The Best Hiking and Trekking Trails in Sri Lanka - Trail your way through nature in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is a beautiful tropical island which has so many different attractions for nature lovers and hikers.

1

Ella Rock

The Ella rock is not a steep climb and it is only about 1000 meters above sea level. The view from above is the most delightful if you are able to get to the top in the morning when it is not too cloudy. If you leave the hotel early in the morning you will be able to reach the peak by around 8 or 9 so you can rest and take in the view from the top till it gets warm and sunny. One of the most important parts of the trail is that a friendly neighbourhood dog will join your hike if he hasn't already gone up with another group.

2

Little Adam's Peak

The Little Adam's peak is a delightful trail for new and first-time hikers. It can be taken on in half a day and the view, the weather and the sounds are absolutely pleasant in the morning hours. The peak of the mountain is extremely calm and relaxing. The view is undeniably stunning as you get to see pristine forests and tea plantations spread far and wide. Silvertree Travel suggests the little Adam's peak for beginners who request to go on a hike in Sri Lanka

3

Horton Plains

Located about 2000 meters above sea level, the Horton Plains national park is one of the three most sought after hiking trails in Sri Lanka. Made up of rich forests, breezy grasslands and fresh waterfalls, the mountain range is a nature lover's paradise. One end of the hiking trail leads to World's End which is a sudden and steep drop of about 800 meters.

4

Knuckles Range

The knuckles mountain range is another well-known hiking trail in Sri Lanka. The trail is located in the central highlands, between Matale and Kandy. Most adventure tours in Sri Lanka include the Knuckles mountain range for a hike. There are many options that one can choose from when you are hiking Knuckles. You can do one-day hikes as well as two to three-day hikes as well.

5

Meemure

Meemure is one of the most rewarding hikes one can take on. It is in the secluded town away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The Meemure hike is not something that can be manoeuvred in one day. It is an expedition that will need about two to three days. The most delightful part of the hike is the pointy mountain peak that is overlooking the village.

6

Pidurangala

Pidurangala is a large rock that is located in Sigiriya. Climbing the Pidurangala rock will give the hikers a stunning view of the Sigiriya rock and the vicinity which is almost like a bird's eye view. The stunning greenery, the paddy fields and the valleys make the hike completely worth the effort. The mountain range is not a trail that is taken up by many so there isn't a strict path that one can follow in order to get to the top. The Pidurangala trail would not be the best option for first-time hikers.
