When the topic is Koh Samui, the first thing that springs to your mind is an image of you lounging on a beach. The island is outlined with numerous beaches and here's a list of beaches that you'd love.
If you can put up with the crowds that dot the beach, Chaweng Beach will not disappoint you. The pristine white beach awash with the waves of the light blue ocean has somewhat of a unique quality to it. Visitors come to favour this beach more for ease of travel – the beach is located within shouting distance of the airport – as well as finding a Samui beach resort. The beach stretches up to 7km with a full view of the horizon that has thrown two shades of blue into one single picture. As Chaweng crowd is made up mostly of young adults, the beach is well propped up with bars of great variety, not to mention the likes of Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort that dominate the immediate vicinity.
Might not measure up to Chaweng beach if you are looking for luxury, but if you long for a bit of peace laden with tranquillity, Lamai beach will definitely address your wish. Another reason that would interest you is the cheap accommodation options that anyone can afford. This beach is all about relaxing – a perk brought about by the fact that the beach hardly gets crowded – you can spend all your day on the beach enjoying everything it offers, including water sports.
The traditional Fisherman's Village is the main attraction on Bophut Beach which stretches up to 2km. Apart from haggling sessions over freshly caught fish, you can also enjoy the comforts of many restaurants and boutique resorts. The sand found on Bophut beach has a yellowish hue which is met with foaming waves that retract leaving a sizzling sound. The perfect spot for an evening swim, the beach is also ideal for jet skiing if you are a speed fiend.
With the greenish blue ocean edging the coastline, Lipa Noi Beach might not be as aesthetic as Chaweng beach though deserving of your attention. Visitors enjoy the serenity, and the shade provided by the palm trees. The biggest attraction of the beach is the setting sun which tourists enjoy immensely in the secluded atmosphere Lipa Noi Beach is famous for.
Located off the north edge of Lamai Beach is 250m long strip of sand that collides with the greyish blue ocean. Namely, Silver Beach, the setting of the beach is perfect for snorkelling.
When it comes to Maenam Beach, strictly speaking, it's not about the beach. The beach doesn't have a list of attractions that might interest you – although there's one thing that makes up for the lack of crowd-pleasers: cutting edge restaurants. The beach is almost never crowded, nor are the restaurants – you can enjoy the luxuries of the restaurants in coveted peace.
