What you need to know when riding a taxi in New York City.
You should always get one, no matter the circumstances
Cash and credit card are both accepted in all taxis at all times
You can direct the route you want to take and request the fastest route to your destination
You cannot be charged extra for luggage or extra bags in the backseat or trunk
Noise free, cell phone free and smoke free rides
The driver must turn on the air conditioning or heating if you request it
No driver may refuse to travel with your service animal on board
Tipping is always optional, and you don’t have to tip for poor service
Dial 311 to file a complaint or to commend your driver
All taxis cannot refuse service, or refuse to take you to any destination in NYC, Westchester, Nassau, or Newark Airport
