Cannabis and Addiction

Cannabis and Addiction

Addiction is a concept that is challenging to both define and understand. Every person has a different level or tolerance to addiction, so from the get go, we have to dispel the concept that drug addiction only comes to be when there is a physical dependency involved. Addiction is a little more complicated than that, mainly when we deal with drugs such as cannabis, and it is important to understand the connection between addiction and mental health. Plainly, cannabis or weed addiction can be and is a real thing that affects many people across the world.

Curious why black market weed sells for a lower price than that of legal?

Curious why black market weed sells for a lower price than that of legal?

Cannabis has been legal all throughout Canada for more than a year now, but the black market is still thriving. This can be attributed to a variety of factors – for example, many argue that black market cannabis is often higher quality that the legal stuff, and there is undoubtedly more variety. However, the main factor is price. The cost of legal weed steadily increased after legalization until it reached prices 80% higher than comparable product on the black market. Prices have tapered off slightly, but the difference is still significant, and more and more Canadians – around 60%, now – are turning to illicit avenues to buy their cannabis. What causes these huge price differences in the first place?

Why does music sound better when you’re high?

Why does music sound better when you’re high?

If you’ve ever gotten really high (or even just kinda high) and listened to music, you probably already know that it can be quite an experience. Sounds become deeper, richer, and more vibrant; you can distinguish the timbres, rhythms, and notes more clearly; songs sound crisp, lush, and full of detail. Your sense of hearing seems to be heightened in the same way that your vision is if you put on a pair of prescription glasses. However, there is a lot that goes into the ‘why’ behind making music sound better high.

🌱Modify Your High

🌱Modify Your High

In recent years, there has been a lot of buzz about terpenes. We used to think that THC and CBD were the sole factors in determining a strain’s effects.

Now, we know that the effects are a result of the interactions between all (or at least many) of a strain’s cannabinoids and terpenes.

A strain with lots of limonene will smell like citrus and provide a more clear-headed, alert high, a strain high in myrcene will smell skunky and provide a stony high, and so on.

Move Over Amsterdam: Toronto May Have Legal Cannabis Cafes!

Imagine a cannabis culture like the one in Amsterdam? Lounges and cannabis cafes that allow you to indulge in your favourite flower, BYOW (bring your own weed) or bought from your after-hours locale of choice. Even better? Imagine yourself heading to a concert and being able to (legally) smoke as you enjoy the music?

Well, if either of those is your idea of a good time, we have some good news for you! According to recent news this week, Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s government has shared that as it moves towards an open market for pot in Ontario, that they are considering allowing cannabis cafes and lounges. The best part? They are asking the public (you) to weigh in on the proposal.

The History Of Cannabis In Canada

The History Of Cannabis In Canada

Cannabis has an interesting history in Canada, even if it is somewhat brief compared to many other parts of the world. The plant is believed to have evolved in China at around 12,000 BC. Between then and now, cannabis has traveled all the way around the globe. However, it didn’t arrive in Canada until 1606, when French botanist Louis Hebert planted hemp in what is now Nova Scotia. In 1801, free hemp seed was distributed to Canadian farmers on behalf of the King of England. At that time, hemp was the only form of cannabis that grew in Canada – marijuana wouldn’t come along until later.
