The Green and Hawksbill Sea Turtles

Head over to Komandoo Island, there you can explore the waters which often host to two varieties of sea turtle, the Hawksbill and Green sea turtles. The location, the Lhaviyani Atoll is a known ground for one of the world's largest Green Sea Turtle communities, with the highest concentration located around Kuredu.

Velingadu East

The dive site located at Velingadu East is a 10-minute boat ride from the main island and is a super location for spotting the gentle sea turtles. The Maldives is home to 5 of the sea turtle species located across the world; there are 7 in total. Most spotted species include the Loggerhead, Olive Ridley, Leatherback and Green.

The submarine tour offered on Male, the capital island, is another fine way to encounter the sea turtles of Maldives. The tour which generally lasts about 45 minutes can be booked via your hotel in the Maldives. Tours take place to a schedule. The submarine accommodates around 50 persons and is the best way to explore the beautiful underwater world of Maldives, without getting wet. The vessel dives to depths of 40 metres; and with the inclusion of large portholes, you have a chance to snap up some amazing pics of the underwater life-forms, including the turtles that occasionally amble by. The submarine tours are very popular, hence booking your tour early is recommended to avoid disappointment.
