Why Are Trees So Important?

I think we can all take trees for granted. They are the main reason we are still existing on this planet and they assist in a great way with the environment. So take a minute to think about the world and our very precious trees, because without them we wouldn't be here.

Noise Pollution

Noise Pollution

One fact people don't generally know is that trees can actually drown out some of the loud noise created from airports and motorways. Trees which are placed or grown in specialised areas can be as effective as a wall for example.

3

Windbreaks

Windbreaks

In the winter months trees can provide a good support system for breaking those extra strong winter winds. This can help reduce some of the heating costs we incur throughout the winter months. Obviously the reduction of wind can help keep soil in place and reduces the effect of drying in vegetation and soil, which is very important.

Shade

Shade

Trees are brilliant for shade. Especially in warm conditions in the summer. A tree can provide shade and lower temperatures. It is so good for countries with little access for air conditioning.

5

Cleansing

Cleansing

Believe it or not but trees can help clean the air, removing any such pollutants like carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide. They do this by reducing the temperature and absorbing the pollutants through respiration.

6

Cleaning

Cleaning

Trees can provide a filter like system to reduce harmful pollutants, by storing them or by method of changing them into a less harmful form of pollutant. Trees can store farm chemicals, sewage and help clean or in a way purify water runoff into streams and rivers.

7

Carbon Dioxide

Carbon Dioxide

A tree absorbs carbon dioxide and stores it in the leaves, wood and root of the tree. This is to produce food for the tree. The carbon is stored as wood not as a harmful greenhouse gas. Carbon Dioxide is a gas which is widely known as a criminal to global warming, so by having it stored in the tree and locked away it is not harmful.

Scenery

Trees are beautiful and wonderful to look at in any season of the year. A forest of trees can make a difference to any town and can actually increase property prices.
