Best places to visit in Koh Samui - Coastal bliss!

Koh Samui is a picture postcard perfect location ideal for a beach holiday. Amazing beaches, historical temples, crocodile farms, and all the monkey business makes it a top beach holiday destination.

1

Monkey Shows

Monkeys contribute to Koh Samui's coconut industry in a big way. Locals have trained monkeys to help them in coconut plantations and now it has become a tourist attraction in the locality. At the monkey theatre, you find monkeys not only showing off their skills of plucking coconuts but also many other performing acts. This is a great place to take kids and make sure to grab a front seat since the audience gets to participate in some of these highly amusing acts. The monkey show is usually followed by an elephant performance and you also get a chance to ride these majestic jumbos for a very small fee. This is one of the fun things to do in Samui when travelling with children.

Go, karting!

Go-karting is fun to do wherever you are in the world. So when you are on holiday in a special seaside town such as Koh Samui then it'll be double the fun. It doesn't matter whether you are a beginner or an experienced rider, all you need to do is get on to your kart and ride to your heart's content. The karting course is open from 9 in the morning to 9 pm so you can fit it into your schedule any time of the day. The Go-Kart centre will offer safety instruction and helmets, therefore, you have nothing to worry about. One of the secrets for a memorable holiday is your accommodation, if you stay at a place such as Avani+ Samui Resort then you are able to travel to all the main attractions with ease so make sure you do!

Samui Crocodile Farm

This place is all about Thailand's jaws and claws. The farm which predominately inhabits crocodiles, also have snakes, lizards, monkeys and many more other animals living there. The farm, which covers a large 8000sqm area, conducts exciting and unique crocodile and snake shows for visitors. You find nail-biting performances where well-trained performers insert their heads into the crocodile's mouth while keeping a wide smile on their face. The snake show too is a great experience for the whole family. Live snakes are carefully wrapped around the handler's neck and even stuffed into there mouths!

Wat Plai Laem

Wat Plai Laem may not be the oldest temple in Samui however it is probably the most spectacular. This is one of the best places to absorb Thai culture and take a break from the usual touristic things in Thailand. Built in 2004, it is constructed with traditional Thai architecture, which makes people believe it is much older than it is. Wat Plai Laem is a compound consisting of several temple buildings and statues and is less commercial than Big Buddha. You don't find that many shops on site apart from the few vendors selling refreshing drinks and fruits on ice.

5

Sairee Beach

Sairee Beach is the most popular and the busiest beach in Koh Samui. It is a great place to spend the day getting a tan, playing a game of volleyball or football. Thirty meters into the water you get an amazing coral reef where you can enjoy snorkelling and scuba diving. Since the water is shallow it's a great place for families with young kids. At dusk, you can unwind with a drink and watch the sunset and put your dancing shoes on to dance the night away.
