Pristine Beaches to Visit in Maldives - Soft White Sand and Swaying Palms

The Maldivian archipelago will not disappoint in terms of excellent beaches. The place is blessed with the most stunning sun-bleached beaches of soft white sand watched over by swaying palms.

1

Artificial Beach

Starting with the capital Male; Artificial Beach must be given a mention. The place was constructed in order to supplement the main islands lack a proper beach. Those of you staying overnight until the seaplane arrives in the morning for your island transfer can head over to this beach. The place has a holiday vibe to it with many little cafes and coffee bars punctuating the area. The beach is surrounded by a shallow body of water and is safe for children. Although a far cry from the stunning beaches on the resort islands, Artificial Beach well makes up for Male's lack of a proper beach. Only very modest and well-covered swimwear is allowed here.

2

Bikini Beach

Bikini Beach is a nice secluded little stretch of sun-bleached sand. The place is not crowded allowing you plenty of leverage to rest, relax and unwind. The beach is framed by plenty of tall palm trees for some shade while swimming and snorkelling are highly recommended. Head out towards the reef and you will be rewarded with sights of manta rays, sharks and other tropical fish. The secluded lagoon is ideal for enjoying some time in the water as well as spotting the occasional dolphins.

3

Hulhumale Beach

This is a vibrant public beach that offers a day of fun in the sun. The place is only 10 minutes from the main airport and is surrounded by a lot of greenery. The water is inviting and warm with a variety of tropical fish swimming in the shallow waters. Plenty of water sports and activities are offered around the beach while restaurants and cafes add to the holiday vibes.

4

Kunburudhoo Beach

Kunburudhoo Island Beach is not a hip and happening place but if you want to enjoy some sun, sand and surf head over to the island. There are a few cafés on the island for good meals while the house reef is good for snorkelling and swimming. The current is quite low around the island hence water activities are considered safe. Remember that wearing bikinis are not permitted at a certain time on the beach. The place is not home to a luxury Maldives bungalow and will not be comfortable for a long term holiday.

5

Veligandu Island

Veligandu Island is located on the South Male Atoll; it is one of the many island resorts that make up the archipelago. Home to the Anantara Veli Maldives Resort the beach unlike the public beaches are well maintained and is the epitome of sun-bleached island paradise. You can enjoy a variety of water sports there with excellent facilities while the house reef is highly conducive for swimming and snorkelling. Exploring the rest of the South Male Atoll from Veligandu Island is a breeze and quite rewarding for island hopping, scuba diving and picnics on isolated sand bars.
