PVC Pipe Association Mission

Our mission is to promote use of longer-life, lower-maintenance, corrosion-proof PVC piping in water and wastewater systems – for real sustainability, strength and long-term asset management.

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) piping material has withstood the test of time. Extensive performance records have compiled proving PVC is the piping material of choice for sanitary sewer applications.
There are numerous reasons for PVC's success in sanitary sewer applications, the first and foremost being PVC's ability to resist corrosion. An immediate benefit will construction cost savings through PVC's light weight and ease of installation.
Upon selecting PVC pressure pipe for force main design, the designer forms a solid foundation for the short and long term success of the project

The most important and critical factor used to quantify the condition and occurrences of failing underground pipe networks is water main break rates. Water main break rates are calculated for all pipe materials used in the transport of water to create a measurement to judge pipe performance and durability. Water main break rates for each utility can vary year to year and even seasonally. However, in aggregate, break rates produce a compelling story which can aid in asset management decision making as it relates to defining pipe criticality and costs of repairing and replacing our underground water pipes.
