Since the Maldives is surrounded by the Indian Ocean it doesn't come as a surprise that most of the dishes in Maldivian cuisine revolves around seafood. This particular dish is absolutely loved by locals and foreigners alike and it can be found in most of the restaurants. It is a side dish that is eaten with chapatti, roti or even bread. The dish is made with shredded Smoked Tuna and mixed with grated coconuts, lemon, and chopped onions. If you love roti then masrohi is the winner because the flavours are bound to make you want to keep eating more. It is a roti prepared with scraped coconuts, wheat flour, salt and water and then the centre is filled with smoked tuna and coconut. Saagu which is known as Sago in English is a common ingredient in Maldivian desserts. This particular one is made where the coconut milk and the sago is warmed together in a pan and then topped off with condensed milk. In order to balance the sweetness and to make sure it is not overpowering, cardamom and rose essence is infused which creates a great balance in flavours.
