21st Century 6th Grade Learners

This is a collection of lesson plans that can be used to equip sixth grade students with 21st Century Skills.

Lesson 1: What Makes a Leader? | Scholastic.com

Students will identify characteristics of leadership by researching the lives of great American leaders.

Students will participate in lessons that effectively integrate digital tools for storytelling into the classroom by allowing them to work with teachers to become authors and digital storytellers. These activites will increase the digital literacy skills of students.

Students will learn how to effectively communicate using different methods.

Students will learn about the characteristics of emotional intelligence including the following: intrapersonal Skills, interpersonal Skills, adaptability,
stress management and general mood.

Introducing Entrepreneurs | Biz Kids Lesson Plan | Lesson 112

Students review data about a fictional town, and develop a plan to establish a new business based on this data. Students consider what products or services are already being offered and identify opportunities for a new business.

The main goal of this unit is to cultivate global citizenship by strengthening students’
sense of social responsibility, civic engagement, and global awareness. Throughout this unit students will explore the HMS Core Values, and how they relate to creating unity and peace within their school, community, and world.

This is a lesson designed to help students learn how to problem solve by using a step-by-step process.
