What are the benefits of having a Personal Trainer?

What are the benefits of having a Personal Trainer?

Having a personal trainer can help you to achieve your goals. This might be weight loss, getting stronger, looking more toned or getting faster for a race.

If you find it hard to motivate yourself having a personal trainer can be exactly what you need. They plan your sessions, record your progress and make sure you stay on track with your training. Apart for being able to do the exercises for you, they take all the challenges out of training.

At our personal training studio in Nottingham we have all the equipment that you could need to have a balanced strength and conditioning programme.

At the studio we have a great selection of dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells, resistance bands, suspension trainers and power bags to name just a few pieces of kit that can be used in training programmes.

What can a Personal Trainer do for you?

Hiring a Personal Trainer is a very personal and individual choice. You’re making a big investment with your PT, financially, emotionally, mentally and physically. You’re going to be spending a lot of time with them, realistically at least two hours a week with them as a minimum.

Your PT is going to help you make big decisions and often help you to make positive changes in your life.

You will be able to share lots of information with your trainer and in some cases you’ll build up a strong relationship with them. Lots of my clients know about my family, my favourite TV shows, what races I have coming up and what I’m doing at the weekend. In the same case I know similar about my clients, building that trusting relationship is key to making sure you get the most out of your training.

Your PT should make sure you feel confident and motivated when you train. Your training needs to be specific and individual to your own training goals. Make sure you can see progression in your training and a long term plan with what you’re trying to achieve.

Lots of the clients who came to train with us came on their own and often nervous about what to expect at the sessions. We create a fun and friendly atmosphere at the studio and everybody is able to help each other out. This is one of the many benefits of our Legends Programme (semi private personal training) and our Blast Programme (group training). Many of our clients now socialise outside of the sessions and lots book races to do together.

Can you lose weight with a Personal Trainer?

If one of your goals is to lose weight, having a Personal Trainer will be able to guide and support you. However you’ll need to balance your exercise with eating correctly. This is where a lot of the hard work comes as this is up to you. It’s a good idea to plan what you’re going to eat in advance and show you’re trainer. You can even have a look at what recipes to cook to help you on your weight loss journey.

For fat loss you need to be training at least three times a week to start seeing results. Your training will need to include lifting weights and doing high intensity work.

How long does it take to see results with a Personal Trainer?

Depending on the amount of sessions a week you have with your trainer and the amount of effort you out into the sessions will alter how long it takes you to see results.

Your goals can also affect the time it takes you to see results. It’s always a good idea to set short, medium and long term goals so you can see that you’re always working towards a target. This can help to motivate you to reach your long term goal quicker.

Your trainer will also keep in mind your ability level and how used to exercise you are. If you’re a beginner you’ll need to make sure you have the technique perfect on the exercises before moving onto more complex movements.

How many Personal Training sessions to see results?

I’d advise at least two training sessions a week to see results for a minimum of eight to twelve weeks to get you started and in the right mind set to achieving results.

Our Semi Private Personal Training you we start you on our 12 week programme and our clients have seen really positive results with their training.

Our Marathon Training Programme is 16 weeks and you have one PT session a week to fit in with you running training, with the support of sports massages throughout your training cycle.
