Best Places to Visit in the Maldives - Places to explore further

The Maldives is a sunny haven that is an escape for the entire family. There is much to do, learn, and explore here that it makes for a great vacation destination, be it with family or a group of friends.

1

Sultan Park

Sultan Park is a public park in Male that is the only remaining element from the 16th century Royal Palace of Maldives. It still bears semblance to the glory of its grander days and speaks volumes of the past that are no longer visible or celebrated. Although the entire Royal Palace was flattened to the ground, one three-story wing managed to escape this atrocity. This wing is now a part of the park and is a silent reminder of what was lost. Children can enjoy themselves learning a bit of Maldivian history and exploring the ponds of the park that are filled with water lilies.

2

Hulhumale Island

A favourite spot to rest and explore before setting off to the remote and gorgeous resorts of the Maldives like Maafushivaru Maldives; Hulhumale Island is connected to the airport by a causeway. It is, however, a city of its own complete with a school, apartments, a range of shops, and a beautiful gold-domed mosque that is the crowning glory of the island. It is a good place to bridge the gap between the business of the home and the quietness of the resorts, slowly adjusting your family to the serenity that is soon to come.

3

Underwater Restaurant

Sure to send your kids to fits of excitement, visiting an underwater restaurant is one of the most sought-after activities to do in the Maldives. These restaurants do tend to be on the more expensive end of the scale, although if you are to make use of some of Maldives Island resorts and their offers you should be able to splurge a little and give yourself a treat. It is quite an experience to sit at a dining table with manta rays and curious fish coming by to investigate these new creatures to the sea. A perfect photo opp, dining in an underwater restaurant is a coveted Maldivian experience.

4

Whale Submarine

A visit to the whale submarine is one of the greatest Maldivian experience especially if you are with little ones who cannot go scuba diving. The submarine tour starts from Male and goes through beautiful coral gardens, schools of fish, and varied marine life of Maldives. The submarine makes several stops so you can clearly see the different aspects of the mesmerising underwater life of the archipelago. With a staff who is more than willing to help you identify the different flora and fauna, it is sure to be an educational as well as entertaining activity.

5

Uninhabited Islands

While you may wonder what is there to see on an island that is uninhabited, it is one of the most fun activities one can do in the Maldives. A visit to these islands is often a part of island hopping, though you can do it on its own. This is a fun way to enjoy some quality time with the family as you can have a picnic on the beach, explore the island, and even go fishing if you so desire to. Being away from other tourists and people of the islands will be a novel experience for the whole family.
