Water and soil constitute the most important and fundamental elements of agriculture across the world. Speaking of India, the country has been largely dominated by conventional irrigation techniques, out of which sprinkler irrigation is one. Nevertheless, considering the scarcity of water that India perpetually remains confronted with, modern drip irrigation systems seem to be gaining momentum, as they are water, resource and cost-effective. This report throws light on some of the advantages and disadvantages of the sprinkler irrigation system in India, and those of drip irrigation system in regard with sprinkler and drip irrigation maintenance, crop yield, water distribution, etc.
