The 3 most top-rated tourist attractions in Melbourne - Get your trips worth!

Multicultural and vibrant, Melbourne is the second largest metropolis in all of Australia. It is also one of the world's most liveable cities. Here are some of the most amazing locations to visit here.

1

Federation Square

This was opened back in 2002 to celebrate 100 years of federation, however, it was something that divided Melburnians. Some loved it, while some others hated it. No matter the general consensus, today, the Federation Square has become an important aspect of the city and is an excellent place for tourists to begin their tour of Melbourne. This can be found right opposite Flinders Street Station which is a major transport hub. One of its striking features is its ultra-modern design that utilizes open and closed spaces which contrast with all the Victorian architecture that surrounds it. The central outdoor performance space along with its intimate indoor venues are as busy as can be, hosting over 2,000 annual events, making entertainment always accessible. Also included in the Federation Square is the Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia, which is dedicated to Australian Art as well as the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI). If all that doesn't have you interested enough, the "Fed Square" as most people refer to it, is also one of the largest free sites for Wi-Fi in the whole country.

2

Royal Botanic Gardens

Located around two kilometres from the CBD, right in the centre of green parkland that extends to the south of the Yarra River is the Royal Botanic Gardens, and it is one of the finest of its kind in the entire world. This garden which was established in 1846, encompasses two locations; Cranbourne and Melbourne. The Melbourne portion of the garden covers an area of around 38 hectares with over 8,500 species of plants that even include various rare specimens. Found here, the Ian Potter Foundation Children's Garden was created to encourage a new generation of gardeners. The Aboriginal Heritage Walk is another popular tour that gives insight into the indigenous Australians' rich heritage. Absolutely free, this is one of the most relaxed and fun things to do in Melbourne. During the summer, you'll find live theatre and a moonlight cinema set under the stars here in the garden and is one of its highlights. The garden is also an incredibly popular spot for a picnic beside the lake or even the traditional high tea at the Terrace café. If you're looking for some awesome Melbourne hotel apartments, there'll be so many around to pick from, like Oaks On Lonsdale for instance.

3

Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Considered the sporting capital of the country, it comes as no surprise that there's a sports stadium here that is often one of the top tourist attractions in the city. The stadium has a capacity of about 100,000 people and goes all the way back in history to 1853. The Melbourne Cricket Ground has been the main stadium during the 1956 Olympic Games and even during the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
