Souq Al Alawi

The most wide-spread souq in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the stalls and markets of this grand old bazaar run across the city and cluster around the heart of the old quarter. Fakieh Aquarium

One for the entire family this aquarium is home to a large number of marine life, including sharks, turtles, and other fascinating species. The place also showcases replicas of home interiors pertaining to each region. Visitors arriving early are treated to guided tours.

Naseef House

The coral houses of Jeddah are quite legendary, but sadly most of them are not looked after and remain in a dilapidated state. Amongst these Naseef House stands out as one of the few restored and cherished gems. Belonging to a wealthy and powerful Jeddah family, this pretty house is located off Souq Al Alawi, and easy to reach from your Jeddah holiday apartment.

The Fish Market

Located to the west of the Jeddah Corniche, this very vibrant and busy fish market offers one a taste of Jeddah's native lifestyles. You will come across at least 50 marine creatures put on display, and comprise of hammerhead sharks, parrot fish, grouper, squid and much more. Try and make it in time to catch one of the bustling daily sales for a dose of local culture.

Beit Al Balad

This complex was built at the beginning of the 20th century and was used as the British Legation Headquarters in Jeddah from 1915 to the mid-'30s. The place today serves as a museum, where on display are vintage photographs, artefacts, and various other period attractions, all culture buffs will find fascinating.

Sharbatly House

A vintage structure built in the 1930s, this legendary house is home to a number of traditional mashrabiyyas. These are balconies covered with perforated screens, which while allowing air to enter the homes via the balconies, allow one to observe the outside from the balcony without being seen. A must visit to understand the intricate aspects of Islam.
