6 Must Visit Attractions in and around Madrid - The city in a new light

What comes to mind when you think of Madrid, Spain? Football, bright colours and fun people are fine guesses. When it comes to European countries, Spain is one of the first places that come to mind, and for good reason too.

1

Outdoor activities

The rich history and vivid culture of Spain attract everyone, and with an add-on like the mammoth cathedral in Seville, it's a sure thing. The huge castles with their shiny armoured knights and swords will be a dream holiday for any child, especially for a child with great imaginings. Parks, plazas, malls, arcades, and beaches, whatever you want to do, you can. And never forget; take your children out to a session of football at the local grounds too, after all, what is a vacation to Europe without kicking a football about?

2

A vineyard

Spain is a leading country in European wine production. Being very large and having ample ground for cultivating grapes, it has become the third largest wine producer in the world. Almost all regions in the country grow grapes, with most of the cultivations being centred in Castilla-La Mancha. Catalonia is a famous region for tours to vineyards, wine tasting, and festivals. Extremadura, Valencia, Castilla-Leon, Murcia, and Rioja are some other wine producing regions. Most of the best holidays deals offered by reputed travel partners like Mack trip will include at least one journey to a vineyard or a winery. It is such a great experience that no one would want to miss.

3

The Tomato Fight – La Tomatina

If you want to witness or be a part of the world's largest tomato fight; head over to the region of Bunol in Spain. Celebrated in the month of August, this rather quirky festival has been happening since the 1940s. Bunol is located in the beautiful Valencia region of Spain while this event is similar to the rice throwing festival of Bali; which you can read about on local websites.

4

Barcelona

The capital of Spain, Barcelona was founded initially as a Roman city. Today it is open to a good crowd of tourists with a great facet of historical significance. Its immense museums and other historical sites will take you along to a different world of strangeness and marvel.

5

The Tour de France

One of the most famous bicycle races is the Tour de France. Lasting a total of 3 weeks the tour ends in Paris France. Spain and Italy too host similar races and all these combined are known as Grand Tours.

6

Autumn and Spring Races

The autumn races held in Germany, Spain, Switzerland and France are also part of the UCI Pro Tournaments while Europe is host to 5 spring tournaments also considered part of this same tournament.
