Things to do in Kowloon – How best to spend your vacation in Kowloon

On your trip to Hong Kong, be prepared to spend at least two nights in Kowloon to explore the city – it would be a pity if you didn't enjoy some of the things the city has to offer its visitors.

1

The Star Ferry

It would be fair to say that this comes first on the list of things to in Kowloon – not only it's a must do – it is also something you have to do in order to travel back and forth from the mainland. Best time to go for a ride is during the nighttime with the starry sky above you and hundreds of lit up buildings all around you.

2

The Lion Rock Peak

For adrenaline junkies, this is ideal. Standing 1,600 feet above ground is the Lion Rock Peak. To get there, you can either get a taxi from the MTR station or walk from the station. But it's advisable to take a taxi as you are going to need all your energy for the hike.

3

Hello Kitty Café

A fan of hello kitties? Head to the Hello Kitty Café in Kowloon. The place is decorated with many hello kitties to bring out the theme. And there are dim sums which happen to be quite good.

4

Victoria Harbour

This is one of the nocturnal things to do in Kowloon. In the late evening, grab a few drinks and head down to Victoria Harbour. With colourful lights all around you and the cool evening breeze, you can have a happy evening – which is made all the better by the fact that it comes free.

5

Taste the dim sums

Liked the dim sums at Hello Kitty Café? Then you are going to like it more at Tim Ho Wan. They are said to be the best dim sums in Hong Kong – which is apparent from the fact that the restaurant earned a Michelin star. Here's another throw in for you; dim sums here are ridiculously cheap.

6

Symphony of Lights

You've probably heard of this as it is the world's largest and permanent light and sound show. In the evening, about forty buildings light up in synchronisation with the music. The show goes on for about 13 minutes. This is another thing you can do in Hong Kong without having to spend money.

7

Sample the street food

When you are travelling to an Asian country, what's the first thing that pops into mind? Street food right? Well, Kowloon is practically jammed with street food vendors. For cheap but yummy street food, go to Temple Street Night Market.

8

Accommodation

Talking of cheap things – have you thought about where you are going to stay when you are in Hong Kong. It's important that you get your accommodation sorted beforehand – it is also something touristy that you can do while in Hong Kong. There are all sorts of hotels in Kowloon. Exploring them would be something you could do while on tour. If you want luxury, there's luxury – but if you'd rather settle for a hotel like Silka Hotels – one of the budget hotels in Hong Kong, you have that option too.
