While the wineries are the highlight, there is so much more to Hunter Valley that you must see and do, which makes it one of the most popular places to visit in New South Wales.

The vineyards

This is a no-brainer; hunter valley is one of the most popular wine regions in all of Australia, and these vineyards are ingrained in the local culture. With a history dating back around two centuries, there are many vineyard tours for you to choose from. Sample the delicious wines while you learn the process by which they are made. Skydiving

This activity is only for the most daring, as jumping from a plane thousands of feet up in the air isn't for everybody. After the initial adrenaline rush of the jump, you can enjoy the brilliant views of the wine country as you parachute opens. Where better to enjoy the stunning vistas from than up in the sky. Book your adventure beforehand, as there may be some training you may have to undergo prior to the big jump.

If the rush of a skydive isn't for you, you can still enjoy the panoramic bird's eye view, from the comfort of a hot air balloon. Your visit to this wine country doesn't have to be all about the vineyards, at this premier chocolate factory and showroom you will be able to watch as these intricate delicacies are made, and indulge in them yourself. Take some of these delicious delights home as a souvenir from your travels.

The Great North Walk

The walk in its entirety is 250 km long, stretching from Sydney to Newcastle. You can cover a part of this walk when in Hunter Valley, a very scenic portion known as the Great North Walk loop. There are many lookout points along the way from which you can admire breathtaking views. An alternate option for a relaxing outdoor experience is the Hunter Valley Gardens, centrally located close to resorts such as the Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort and other local highlights.

You don't need to visit grand museums to admire art that tells a story, and the Kurri Kurri murals are one such place where interesting art is easily accessible.
