Places you should visit to get the most out of your trip to Manila- A look into making the best trip ever

Manila, the capital city of Philippines, attracts the attention of many. Boasting of multiple influences from various cultures, it makes for a wonderful travel destination.

1

Intramuros

The Intramuros is an impeccable citadel that has stood the test of time. Founded in 1571 by the Spanish, the citadel has faced many natural disasters, wars and invaders. The 64-hectare structure should be explored before 10 a.m as the temperature will be a lot cooler than later on in the day. Close to this amazing structure is Ilustrado. After a day exploring this fascinating citadel, you can stop by this place, designed like a colonial villa, for some appetizing breakfast and some refreshing Spanish hot chocolate.

2

Dynastic Museums

Interested in finding out more of Manila's well-famed conglomerates that are owned by some of the powerful people who have a rich history? Well, then there are two museums that do just that- give a detailed insight into their lives and how they work. The Ayala Museum and the Yuchengco Museum showcase detailed family history, and the two museums are just a block apart! After a tired day of sightseeing, looking for hotels with restaurants in Makati? Well, you could never run out of options with hotels like Berjaya Makati Hotel which is only a few minutes' drives away from the Ayala Museum.

3

Manila Contemporary

If you're an art fanatic and would like to see Manila's art scene, then the Manila Contemporary at Chino Roces Avenue is an absolute must visit for you. Here, many world-class art portrayals and exhibitions are held. Close to this place is the Silverlens. Drop by here, to witness some excellent photography and videos that are displayed here.

4

Café Juanita

Well, exploring a city should involve some good cafes and a fresh pot of coffee, right? Stop at Cafe Juanita to taste some exquisite local food. Some of its special include the pork adobo, deeply fried asohos, and angel hair pasta with crab fat. And try their laing too, which is taro leaves immersed in coconut milk.

5

Greenbelt Chapel

Roman Catholicism is predominantly practised in this city and this leads to one thing- some of the most amazing churches and citadels. The Greenbelt is one such place where both Christianity and commercialism is unified. Greenbelt is a popular shopping complex and it also houses a massive dome of a church which stands out. This place is none other than the Greenbelt Chapel. It stands out like a diamond under the sun, with its perfectly manicured gardens around. Mass is held three times a day at least, and you can attend any one of them.

6

Marikina Shoe Museum

This one's for all the ladies out there. Who doesn't invest in some shoes and heels to accentuate your attire? No one did it better than Imelda Marcos, Philippine's former first lady. Her collection of shoes is all displayed at the Marikina Shoe Museum. If she has a dedicated museum for her shoes, you can just imagine what kind of collection she might have had, yes? You are surely in for a treat!
