Photobacterium phosphoreum or Vibrio phosphoreum is a gram-negative bioluminescent bacterium living in symbiosis with marine organisms, thus it inhabit the aquatic environment. It has the ability to emit a bluish-green light due to a chemical reaction between flavin mononucleotide (FMN), luciferin and molecular oxygen catalysed by an enzyme called luciferase.
