Climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress

The Sigiriya Rock Fortress is one of the must-visit places in Sri Lanka. It would take a little more than 2 hours to get to Sigiriya from Pasikuda. The Rock Fortress was built more than 2500 years ago and is astonishing due to the architectural and engineering techniques used in the construction of the kingdom. There are culturally significant elements in Sigiriya such as the infamous frescoes of the maids, the mirror wall which ancient visitors had written down poems and appreciation and the lion feet at the entrance. You have to climb up the rock for more than an hour, but the view is breathtaking and is completely worth the effort.
