Top 5 Adventure Activities in Bali – Seeking thrills

Bali is better known as the island of beautiful beaches. But if you are an adrenaline junkie or simply love adventures, Bali offers a planet of opportunities to indulge your passion.

1

Paragliding

Paragliding allows you to see the beauty of Bali from a different perspective. Fly off a cliff and observe the world below for a few precious moments from a vantage point and escape into the freedom enjoyed by a seagull. Some Seminyak resorts are well prepared to help you find a good instructor to guide you in your daring flight. Once you master the art of jumping off and cruising above the ground in one glorious flight with the help of the instructor, you could even attempt it on your own. Resorts such as the Montigo Resorts Seminyak possess planners who help guests to plan their adventures.

2

Rafting

You can raft along either the Ayung River or the Telaga Waja River in central Bali. The Ayung is probably a better option as the Telaga Waja tends to pose more of a challenge with strong rapids during the wet season. Choose an experienced rafting master to help you navigate the currents with surety and caution. Let the cool waters splash and sprinkle you with their bounty while you brave the rapids one after another.

3

Diving

Balinese waters hide numerous vibrant sea creatures and you can easily find an instructor to help you seek the best of these natural wonders. Seek amidst the waters of Menjangan islands to meet pygmy seahorses that roam amongst turtles and fish. If you are lucky, you could have a soulful rendez-vous with sunfish and greet manta rays. If you would like to watch fish swim across shipwrecks, dive into the turquoise depths near the coast of Tulamben where WWII liberty wrecks slumber in its salty grave.

4

Volcano climbing

You could either climb the challenging Mount Agung to watch the orange-hued sunrise or brave the more famous Mount Batur. Mount Agung is known as Bali's highest point and you can climb it within three to four hours depending on your fitness level. While you won't need climbing gear for the ascent, you will need to bring warm clothing. Hire a guide to show you the way and start around 2 in the wee hours to make it to the summit before sunrise. Climbing Mount Batur will take about two hours. Don't forget to visit the picturesque Lake Batur to gaze at the volcano from a different angle.

5

Kitesurfing

Enjoy the enthralling speed of windsurfing complemented by the rhythm of surfing. This is an apt description of kitesurfing. Bali's breeze can carry you across the waters for a thrilling ride on a surfboard connected to a large kite. The kite harnesses the wind but you can control it. If you are a beginner, stick to flat bodies of water and once you become a pro go look for large waves. If you hire the right kind of instructor, you can relax a bit and let them worry about safety. Professional instructors follow you on a boat at all times just in case.
