Tea is one of the most popular drinks worldwide, and much of it comes from Sri Lanka. Tea plantations can be an interesting site to see; here are 4 famous areas in Sri Lanka.

Kandy

Kandy, located in the Central Province of Sri Lanka, is known for producing high-quality tea, that many people all over the world enjoy. There is much to do in Kandy, making it undoubtedly worth a visit; the Temple of the Tooth Relic, Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, Kandy Lake, and many other beautiful sites are located in the area. It is easily accessible from Colombo via train, bus, or car. Consider visiting this beautiful area when you are in Sri Lanka, not just for the tea plantations.

Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya, like Kandy, is known for being the source of some of the finest, highest quality tea Sri Lanka produces and exports. Nuwara Eliya is a beautiful and scenic area, with many mountain ranges and lakes to visit and enjoy. Should you decide to visit this beautiful region, look for Nuwara Eliya bungalows as a place to stay; places such as Amaya Langdale Nuwara Eliya are beautiful hotels with lovely architecture and splendid views. Haputale

Haputale is another area that produces high-quality tea that is very delicious. The area, situated in the Uva Province, enjoys a cool climate and comparatively low temperatures that lend well to the production of good tea. Lipton's Seat is one very famous area of Haputale to visit, boasting an absolutely stunning panoramic view of the mountains and lakes spread around the Haputale area. The view is something that is impossible to forget. Horton Plains is another beautiful place to visit in the Haputale area, and many locals and tourists alike make the trip there to enjoy it. If you want to hike up a few waterfalls, Bambarakanda Falls and Diyaluma Falls, the tallest and second tallest waterfalls in Sri Lanka, can be found in this area. Haputale is known for its fantastic tea and for its beautiful views; it is definitely worth visiting.

Galle

Unlike the other areas on this list, Galle is located in the warm and sunny Southern Province. The tea produced here is sharper than tea grown in the cooler regions of Sri Lanka; this type of tea is a very popular export product to the Middle East. There is a lot to do in Galle, beyond the tea plantations. The area is famous for its beaches, and indeed, many beautiful beaches can be found in this region. The most famous site in Galle is the Galle Fort, which has been preserved incredibly well since it was built in the Colonial era. The Fort is filled with shops with lots of goodies, and restaurants serving tasty dishes. Galle is very accessible from Colombo via the highway, and so many locals take a day trip to this beautiful area.
