Shawnee Mission Park is the premier park of the Johnson County Park and Recreation District (JCPRD), located in Shawnee Kansas - in the county of Johnson County, Kansas a multi-use, 1,250-acre park is located at 79th and Renner Road in Shawnee, Kansas. The land was purchased through the District's initial bond issue in 1956 and officially dedicated on May 30, 1964. It is the largest park in the county and the most-visited park in the entire state of Kansas. Shawnee Mission Park is home of our beautiful 120-acre scenic lake, a very popular spot for boating, fishing & sail boarding. The park also has twelve (12) spacious shelters, numerous picnic areas, nature trails, play areas, an archery range, a 53-acre dog off-leash area and is a great place to enjoy horseback riding. It is also the home of the Shawnee Mission Park Beach, The Theatre in the Park and the Shawnee Mission Park Marina. Our marina is equipped with canoes, pedal boats, and fishing boats with boats rentals available to the public. The Shawnee Mission Park also has tennis courts, small airplane runway, a tower, an 18-hole disc golf course and numotous trails.
