The Dhofar Province in Oman is home to the fascinating and captivating city of Salalah which is famed for its elaborate landscapes through which one must have traversed to truly appreciate Oman.

1

Stroll through Ad Dahriz Beach Walkway

Meander at your own pace at one of Salalah's most treasured beaches; the Ad Dahriz Beach is home to a well laid out walkway which is flanked by lazily swaying coconut palm trees and dimly-lit lamps on either side. Thus, making for the perfect journey to take in the surrounding scenery of which both the sunrise and sunset deserve more than a casual glance.

2

Go boating

Explore the wonders of the Sea of Oman on board a traditional Omani craft. Such excursions would afford you a unique chance of capturing some of Salalah's towering mountain peaks, its sandy beaches and the clear-blue ocean waters itself.

3

Visit archeological sites

First up would be a tour of Al Balid which is found in close proximity to the Haffa Souq and Al Husn Palace. Declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the ruins that lie here are those of an ancient city that one stood proud and tall in Salalah. While these remnants are amongst the top tour attractions in the city, one must also opt for a visit to Sumhuram. According to folklore, the area is said to have been established to bring about some control over Dhofar's local Frankincense industry. While dating back to the times of the Hadramawt Empire, travellers will be able to delight in the sublime views of the Sea of Oman and the old town.

4

Enjoy some bird watching

Engaging in bird watching will come across as one of the best ways to not only while away the hours in the city but also learn of the various species of birds that frequent the town in their numbers. Be it by a beautiful wadi, amongst fruit trees, by the side of any of the town's lakes or lagoons; this popular pastime is well worth the investment. Species such as the spoonbill, glossy ibis and the flamingo are amongst those varieties of birds that can be easily spotted while en route to some of the most cherished destinations in this part of Oman. In fact for those travellers like yourself contemplating holidaying in Salalah, hotels will be one of the finest forms of accommodation from which one may plan out one's itinerary. Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara is one such abode which offers restful living spaces and outstanding leisure experiences.

5

Stop by the Al Marneef Cave

Found near Salalah's Al Mughsail Beach, the cave is surrounded by beautiful mountains in the distance but the highlight of a visit here would arguably be the Al Marneef Blowholes. The water which spews from these holes in the ground arrives at some pace from underground sea caves. This in turn creates a fountain-like effect for the curious onlooker who can be seen seated on any of the benches provided so that this very experience can be caught sight of.
