Oman is a beautiful country in the Arabian Peninsula. Here are some of the best eerie, quirky, and the most enjoyable places to visit here on your next vacation.

Muscat

Muscat is the capital of Oman. This city has something for everyone. From luxury hotels to museums, forts, markets and Palaces, you will not run out of things to do. Visit the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in the mornings. It is open to non-Muslim travellers as well. Inside the mosque, you can find the world's second largest Persian carpet, marble walls and gigantic crystal chandeliers.

Nizwa

This was Oman's capital in the 6th and 7th centuries. Now, Nizwa has gained fame for the fort. The Nizwa Fort has a large cylindrical tower, which is the highlight of the place. The Fort is also a great place to learn about life in Oman in the 17th century.

Wahiba Sands

This is a large desert where the sand dunes stretch out for many kilometres. Many travellers visit the Wahiba Sands to see what the traditional Oman life looks like. You can ride camels along the desert while observing the Nomadic lifestyles of the Bedu people. Camping in the Wahiba Sands is sure to be a fun experience.

Musandam Fjords

The Musandam Fjords is in the Northern part of Oman. This is an incredible destination for every traveller to Oman should visit. You can go on boat rides, watch dolphins, and go scuba diving. This place is a haven for wildlife lovers because there are fewer people while there's an abundance of wildlife.

Ras Al Jinz

This is a turtle reservation area towards East of Oman. Between May and October, baby turtles hatch and you might be able to see their nests along the beach. You can visit the Turtle Visitor Museum and Centre while you're there.

Jebel Akhdar

This is mountain range with the most spectacular view in all of Oman. Jebel Akhdar is also known as the Green Mountain. Many a Muscat hotel the likes of Al Falaj Hotel are located in this mountain range. Most mountains in Oman are not great for hiking, but this one is an exception.

Salalah

This is the second most important city in Oman after Muscat. This is the birthplace of all Sultan Qaboos who ruled Oman from 1970. The Qaboo Palace is a great place to witness the ancient Oman architecture. Between June and August, there is ample rainfall to Salalah and it converts the area into a lush green paradise.

Bahla

Bahla is another historically significant place in Oman. For centuries, this city has attracted many travellers. There is a large fort that was built in the 13th century. The city of Bahla is more like an oasis. If you visit here, don't forget to check out the impressive local pottery patterns.

Misfat Al Abreen

This is a small village which is rich in traditions and culture. The village looks like a European village rather than one in the Middle East. This village is quaint and charming. There's an old watch over which you can climb to see the whole village.
