do not want anything to get damaged. The different departments, such as the art, lighting and direction departments, need to handle their respective equipment to keep everything safe.

Showing up on time

When on a film set everyone is expected to show up early but not on the exact time (the exact time when the shooting is going to start). Even if its a no-budget video shoot it is important to reach at least 15 minutes prior to the time of the shooting. As you know time is like money in the film industry. If you are in a normal job, if you are late for 10 minutes you can make up for that later in the evening but in films, it is not possible, there is a stipulated time that needs to be followed. Because of one person being late the whole shooting process slows down for the day

Saving Important Scenes At The End

Saving Important Scenes At The End

A lot of directors usually save the most important scenes for the end of the day. They assume the shooting done since morning is like a warm-up session for them. But in reality it is not, the actors & technicians get really exhausted after a long shoot of 12 hours and may not produce a great output for the important scene at the end. If a warm-up session is really needed then the important scene can be scheduled somewhat in the middle of the day, this way the actors and technicians will be in a position to give the output as expected by the director.

5

Do Not Disturb The Director For Everything

Technicians while doing their job will often have a lot of questions to ask the director regarding the tasks they have to do like how the lighting should be, how many shots, or any other work-related simple questions. But asking the director all of them can irritate him/her while shooting a film. Instead, try asking the assistant directors present on the set. The director will be very busy with actors trying to create the best shot. If anything is very crucial and extremely important where only the director can answer the question then approach him/her, otherwise, you can approach the assistant directors for other questions.

6

Not Asking When In Doubt

Not Asking When In Doubt

The most common mistake is not asking if you don't know something/didn't understand something. If any task is assigned to you but you are not able to understand what exactly it is then asking them to explain it to you properly. Asking again will not harm rather than having the wrong work done. Always make things clear, do not assume and do the things, this will lead to wrong work which will have to be redone later. If you are not comfortable asking the person who has assigned the task to you, always ask your department head they will definitely help you out with things.

Above are the following basic mistakes that most of the people make when on a film set, so the next time when you are in one, keep these in mind to avoid problematic situations.
