05 Uncommon Things to do in Singapore – Experiencing an exciting side of Singapore

The island of Singapore is home to some of the most exquisite attractions. Showcasing innovation combined with a vision to entertain, Singapore continues to amaze its visitors every year

1

The turtle Museum

No it is not a room full of embarked turtles rather this is the place where you can find living and breathing turtles of different sizes and species. Known for its unique inhabitants such as the long-necked snake-headed turtles, the mata-mata, and the regal golden soft-shell turtle, this attraction has caught the attention of eco tourists, who are keen on doing their part in the conservation of these species. Spread out freely in ponds and pools visitors have convenient access to the turtles, hence feeding and interacting with these species is all part of enjoying this attraction.

2

Umberella trees

This is probably one of the most unusual attractions that you are likely to come across in Singapore. Now the umbrella trees are not just a pretty sight to see. In fact they play an important function which is connected to the actual purpose of an umbrella. Singapore is a tropical country which enjoys an average rainfall of over 92 inches every year. Owing to this, in Hundoo Road down the islands Little India, visitors can get protection from the rain by sitting under an Umbrella Tree. In the forest of umbrella trees the leaves are substituted by vibrantly coloured umbrellas giving the whole area an artsy appearance. Sprouting from a large green cushion, relaxing under these trees is a comfortable experience.

3

Double Helix Bridge at Marina Bay

The words 'Double Helix' hails from all the way within the nucleus of the living cell. Singapore decided to make a bridge using this concept amounting to yet another unique and uncommon attraction in the city. The Double Helix Bridge is a monument that boasts a sophisticated design whose structure has a stark resemblance to the actual DNA in both appearance and meaning. The bridge was officially inaugurated on the 24th of April 2010 and made the world's first curved bridge. To date the views enjoyed from here are some of the finest in the island.

4

Marina Bay Sands SkyPark

Then there is the Marina Bay Sands Sky Park which literally feels like a park way up in the sky. The 200-metre-high boat-shaped SkyPark is located on the top of three 55-storey towers and the scenery from up here is absolutely breathtaking! Whether you are staying at newer hotels like Sedona Corporate which is part of the hospitality management by Keppel Land or any other place, visiting this Skypark is a must do.

5

If you want to experience walking through the Avatar Set, why not take a trip to the Gardens by the Bay. This futuristic park is huge, colourful and absolutely one of a kind. Bask by the glowing super tree structures and stroll along the impressive skywalk; the feeling is absolutely magical.
