The main reason for this is that hiking boots are very heavy and can even end up tearing your feet over prolonged use. Trail runners have proven to be a better option for they are light and easy to manoeuvre over varying terrains. No matter the footwear you commence your hike with, always bring a pair of flip flops with you; in case you decide to step into water.

A map, your phone, a power pack, a torch and important first aid such as antiseptic, band aids and panadols are all essentials that you must carry with you during your hike.
