My first experience of handling a natural disaster

One of the youngest humanitarian workers of Oxfam India narrates her experiences of dealing with her first humanitarian crisis. I have travelled across the country to improve the water and sanitation programme for some of the most marginalised people imaginable that have been hit by a disaster. The work is exhausting and tiring but if executed thoughtfully, it is very satisfying.

Addressing malnutrition during a humanitarian crisis

Children need access to food, clean water, shelter, housing and education in safe buildings that are appropriately placed in order to be resilient to disaster. Improving the baseline health of children through the provision of primary health care increases the resilience of children in disasters.

How does Oxfam respond during humanitarian disasters like floods?

During last 4 years, over 920,000 people affected by recurring floods that hit Assam, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat have been supported through Oxfam India.
