Offering some of the best untouched beaches, relaxing massaging, mouth-watering food and a stunning sunset, the Maldives is a great place to take a peaceful vacation and indulge yourself.

1

Visit Malé

The capital of the Maldives, Malé is a great place for buying fish and experience the day-to-day life of the locals. You'll be able to buy large buckets of fish for half the price than you're normally used to. Situated opposite the Islamic centre, Sultan's park is the grounds on which the Sultan's palace stood. While the gardens have been preserved one part of the palace was modified to accommodate the National Library, National Museum and the Esjehi art gallery. It's a great place to visit if you want to learn more about the culture and history of the Maldives.

2

Enjoy a private vacation

Most of the top hotel chains in the world have set up shop in the Maldives and most of the resorts are located on their own islands. There are no gawkers who stare on as you sunbathe, no beach merchants peddling their products and no beggars interrupting you while you relax on the beach. The only other people are the friendly and helpful hotel staff, making the Maldives a great place to disconnect from the rat race of every day and relax. Massages using various oils and techniques will revitalize your body, mind and soul and feeling refreshed.

Island Hopping

The Maldives is made up of 1190 islands, out of which only 185 of them are inhabited. You can either charter a seaplane or a boat to travel between the islands and explore the treasures and mysteries that each island offers. Most resorts even offer its visitors the chance to visit some of the islands and get a taste for authentic Maldivian food and engage in typical Maldivian activities like going on picnics or fishing. If you're feeling adventurous, try visiting one of the uninhabited islands and find something new like a never before heard private beach.

The underwater sea life, flora and fauna that the Maldives has to offer is absolutely mesmerizing and will leave you speechless. If you're an experienced diver or snorkeller, then you should visit Banana reef, a reef shaped like a banana located on the North Male Atoll. The centre of the reef has a large overhang, making it a great place to spot oriental sweet lips, fusiliers and large schools of snappers.

5

The weather conditions and water levels in many places in the Maldives are great for surfing and it has become a popular surfing destination among surfing enthusiasts. Surfers from across the world visit the Maldives to enjoy some of the best surfing breaks and take part in this fast-paced sport. The Maldives even hosted a few pro surfing championship match that featured pro surfers. One of the reasons that the Maldives is so popular for surfing is due to the fact that the waves offering the same power and punch you'll experience while surfing at other surfing spots. The surfing season starts in April and lasts till November with June-August being the period to expect the largest waves.
