Most people rely heavily on Facebook for event organising and sending invites to their guests. Whilst it does provide a great platform for quickly reaching out to friends and family about upcoming celebrations, the romance is somewhat lost. Buying or creating your own invitations will be a special treat for your guest and build excitement for your party.
Welcome your guests with a drink that they're sure to love and get them in the mood from the minute they walk in the door. Entering a party can be a little daunting, which is why a great host or hostess will make sure that everyone has a glass in their hand from the get go. Remember to have a non-alcoholic option served in equally fancy fashion. After all, it's not the dutch courage we need, just something to do during potentially awkward silences!
Get your house ready a little ahead of time so that you are relaxed by the time your guest arrive. Go through your home and check that that rooms on show are clean and primped. If you are having a sit down meal, make sure that you have enough seating space and if not use folding tables and chairs to fit everyone in. Display flowers to bring your house alive and light candles to set the mood - bonus points if they are scented!
What will make a party great is of course the company. Second on the list and a very, very close second, is the music. You don't want to start the evening with the big guns, however. First you'll need to create a relaxing atmosphere allowing your guests to unwind and get into the flow of things. Once your guests are done eating and have started to let their hair down it's time to get the classics out, did someone say Micheal Jackson?
The ideal party experience is one in which your guests feel pampered, relaxed, confident and comfortable. But how do you get them there? Aside from drinks, this really starts at the door making sure that you look the part and also taking bags and hanging up coats and bags. Introduce people to each other and give each person at least a little of your time and attention so that they feel welcome. Make sure everyone's drinks are topped up and make sure that you have fun too!
