Myanmar - Mrauk U

A very small town in Myanmar with a very hard name to pronounce. Its seldom visited but its worth the days journey on a lazy boat along a quiet peaceful river. Gorgeous scenery along the way and lots of time to work on the tan atop of the boat while listening to tunes. Once your there you can walk into the outskirts of town to visit lost temples with overgrown buddhas like the one shown here. It really feels like a lost city and Indiana Jones Part...?

Ethiopia - Omo Valley

Omo Valley might not be a secret but it still doesn't get as many tourists as you would think. It takes a days ride from the capital to get to the valley and soon they will open an airport if your not keen on the long ride. Once there the tribes will blow your mind with their way of life. Without a written language or even agriculture they could be described as primitive but once you see their funky fashion you find more similarities with our day to day modern life than imagined.

Argentina - Salinas Grandes

The most famous salt flats in South America are in Bolivia which deserve all the attention they get. But here in Argentina the Salinas Grandes have their own unique appeal. First, being located to the regional charming capital Salta they are much easier and comfortable to get to. Rent a car or find a traveler headed there and the road travels through some of the road trip best scenery in the world. Too many places and sights along the way to mention!

California - Joshua Tree National Park

When you think of California you might imagine beach and Hollywood. Modern life and on the travel map for being sunny and fun. But Joshua Tree has to be one of the most visually unique places on Earth. Usually some places remind you of other travel destinations but this is one place that just stands on it's own - like the Joshua Tree! The park has rock formations that look like a movie set and if your a climber then this is the place to be.

Nepal - Mustang Valley, Tiri Village

Nepal borders Tibet and it's the next best thing to being in Tibet. Ride through the Himalayas towards Tibet and after two days you'll come to Mustang Valley. This is the starting point for entry into Tibet but it's the destination in itself. The people are a mix of Nepali and Tibetan and the mountain scenery is truly sublime. I had to stop every 20 minutes to just turn my head and look how incredible the mountains are. This photo was taken in one of the furthest points you can visit go before the border of Tibet. Tiri Village located on the banks of a glacier river that dries up in the low season lets you explore Himalayan life.

8

Kyoto, Japan - Maruyama Park

Kyoto, Japan - Maruyama Park

The only place on Earth you can see the lat remaining Geisha. The city of Kyoto is the ancient capital and still holds the oldest neighbourhood where the Geisha still work. Japan has lots of rich tradition means festivals are always happening. Gion is the quarter where the Geisha live and work and if you hang around long enough you'll see them leave their wooden homes being ushered into a taxi off to work. Best bet is arrive around 5pm!

Harare, Ethiopia

Yes, that is a Hyena and it's 110% wild and the man is feeding it raw chicken. You can get up close and be sitting next to them feeding them if you have the nerves required. The ancient city in Eastern Ethiopia was once a centre of Islam and is one of the best cities with cobbled winding alleyways to explore and get lost in. Five centuries ago the farmers began to feed the wild Hyenas to stop them from attacking livestock. Over the centuries the belief was that the wild animals were good luck and if not fed the cities would suffer bad luck. Tourists can feed the Hyenas for a few dollars but believe me, this isn't a "touristy" attraction. Being so close to these animals you can feel they are completely wild and maybe they feel the same about you.

Malaysia, Borneo

You don't need to be able to scuba or take lessons. Just rent your snorkel gear and join a scuba diver boat and float in the seas near Sipadan Island. Schools of these Jack fish but also thousands of Baracuda! If you can swim you can do this adventure safely. The snorkelling isn't far from the shore but you do need to get on a boat to take you out 10-20 meters off shore. Though if your not up for the boat you can walk off the beach and enjoy the world's biggest aquarium. This is the top three dive and snorkel spots on Earth.
