Use this interactive tool to explore and drill down into the tens and ones of each category in the Dewey Decimal system. This is a fantastic tool to help determine the classification for a non-fiction book. Click on the links to drill down. When choosing a category, click the "Details" link at the top of the page to see the tens and ones for that category.
Classify is an OCLC Research prototype that helps you classify books, magazines, movies, and music using the Dewey Decimal Classification system or the Library of Congress Classification system. You can search by standard number, title and author, or subject heading to locate books already classified in the OCLC system.

The Library of Congress Authority file includes subject, name, title and name/title authority records created by or for the Library of Congress. This is a helpful tool when looking for LOC authorities for your MARC records.
This fantastic tool is provided by the Mid-Continent Public Library to help readers locate the next book in a series. Search by title, subject, series title, and author. This is a perfect compliment to any campus library online catalog. When students ask, "What's the next book in this series," lead them here. Don't let the title "Juvenile Series & Sequels" fool you. This list is comprehensive and includes YA titles as well as picture books.

Each year a committee of the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) identifies the best of the best in children's books. According to the Notables Criteria, "notable" is defined as: Worthy of note or notice, important, distinguished, outstanding. As applied to children's books, notable should be thought to include books of especially commendable quality, books that exhibit venturesome creativity, and books of fiction, information, poetry and pictures for all age levels (birth through age 14) that reflect and encourage children's interests in exemplary ways.
