Travelling is typically a rewarding experience offering loads of pleasure and excitement. Nevertheless, it can be tricky and challenging sometimes, particularly for female travelers who opt for solo travel. Women need to travel with some extra care to keep them safe and avoid the pitfalls they may experience on a trip or tour. You have heard many stories that signify nightmares for women travellers during their expeditions.
Being a travel blogger, I am working in a well-renowned travel agency in UK and always receive emails from my female readers regarding their safety when they are travelling solo. Therefore, I am going to write this article and explain 6 travel tips for solo female travellers.
You must follow these tips if you want to stay safe on your dream travel.
No need to carry too much cash while going for an expedition. However, if you must carry a large sum of cash, keep a small amount in your wallet or handbag and the rest in another compartment in your travel bag. In this way, when you need to pay for food or drink, there is no need to show the entire amount of cash you have.
Be a smart traveler and avoid looking like a stranger. Go to a local garment store and shop some traditional dresses in the country where you are going on a trip. It’s better to dress up like a native if you want to be away from the hunting eyes. As well, avoid sparkling colours as they will make you stand out in the crowd.
Pilfers prefer crowded places, so it’s advisable to care extra when you are at one such place like in the market or public transport stations. Look around you and examine the crowd. See who looks unusual, timid or a wrongdoer. Hopefully, this insight will help you protect yourself to be the prey of thugs.
Don't wear ostentatious jewellery while being on a holiday trip. This may grab the attention of thieves to you. Furthermore, you could be bruised if a stealer yanks the jewellery you have on. If you have a piece or more, put them carefully below in your bag.
Always try using taxis or cab services wherever you go. Moreover, try to keep your belongings with you in the back seat so that if you need to jump out of the cab, you can do it without any second thought. Next keep the number of the cab with you, so that in any misfortunes, you can share the number with police or your near ones.
While packing for a tour, try putting all essential accessories such as a small flashlight and/or whistle in your bag. But please avoid potentially illegal items. Use common sense and avoid dark streets and empty neighbourhoods at night.
The last but not the least, it's suggested to pack your travel bags light and tight. Try keeping only required items and avoid increasing the number of bags. Travel bags are more really better than the heavy suitcases.
So, if you're a women travelling solo, it’s really helpful to consider all the above tips. Along with these, it’s worth doing some cultural research before you head off. Whatever your destination is, it's recommended to join up a travel agency group for an expedition.
