Top 10 Technology Tools for My Future Classroom

Tools I learned in my EDU 228 class at Saint Leo University

1

Historia

Historia

Historia tests your knowledge on history in a fun way! The app uses a lot of creativity to produce new work. It has different categories with different dates and historic events that took place. Something I find very interesting about this app is that when a student has enough coins, they can go to their local library and earn a free book of their choice! This app also makes the teachers lives easier because the students will want to learn more on their own time.

2

Buncee

Buncee

Buncee makes learning fun and exciting! It is by far one of my favorite interactive tools. Students of all ages can create presentations, digital stories, research projects, and quizzes. Students can easily showcase their creativity through the stickers/tools used for presentations. This tool is very beneficial for teachers because they can create quizzes, grade quizzes, flip the classroom, and send invitations to parents. Educators can also monitor the students' work! The teacher can also organize the students' in different groups and control the privacy of the students' creativity.

3

Desmos

Desmos

If you're anything like me, one of my worst subjects is math and science. This interactive tool is a graphing calculator that makes math more easier to comprehend. The tool allows students to share their creations with each other. This tool substitutes a regular graphing calculator that normally costs anywhere from 100 dollars to 300. Students can save their work and it is very easy to use. All you need is wifi for this tool! Students and educators can work together against the evil subject called math!

4

Quizziz

Quizziz

It is student-paced quizzes and tests that help benefit students that not only helps them in what area they are lacking, but it also helps them in a fun way! This tool allows students to work together in groups and create avatars. This tool is not only beneficial for students, bu for teachers as well! Teachers can choose from hundreds of quizzes that pertain to what they are teaching. Students can join a live game as long as they have a password to what the teacher assigns. That means they can create their own avatars, share fun memes, and have fun with their peers!

5

Quizlet Live

Quizlet Live

Quizlet live benefits the teachers more than the students. A teacher can create custom teams suitable for their needs, continuous game play for as long as they want, enable term and audio in games, and also start games with diagram sets! This tool is so simple, all a teacher does is choose a study set, and pick or choose their own teams. While the teacher's students are finding their teams, the educator can open the option menu and enable audio. The Quizlet live can help the visual learners and the audio can help the students who learn by hearing. That is the best of both worlds!

6

Kahoot

Kahoot

Do you want your students to be more engaged? Kahoot is the way to go! Kahoot is an amazing student game based that keeps students entertained and more likely to remember the material. Kahoot can easily replace pencil, paper, and a boring quiz. An interesting fact about Kahoot is that a teacher can create discussions or even surveys. Creating questions for this tool is easy! All a teachers has to do to create questions is use a drag and drop function to create it. Not only is this tool fun and easy for teachers, but also entertaining and engaging for students as well. Kahoot is very versatile. This tool can be used for a variety of age groups. Anywhere from Elementary school to College.

7

Nearpod

Nearpod

Nearpod is quite similar to Buncee. With this fantastic tool, a student can create presentations. This includes quizzes, discussion boards, and evaluations. An educator can share their lesson on nearpod through google classroom! With being a teacher and having so many students, juggle all the paper work, and social work is difficult. It is common for teachers to forget a slide or two on a presentation. What is so great about Nearpod, is that it has a special 'on the fly' feature that a teacher can fix her presentation slides last minute, add open questions, true or false questions, 'draw it' slides in a click of a button! Really quick and easy to use tool.

8

Edpuzzle

Edpuzzle

Edpuzzle is a great interactive tool to gather data throughout a lesson the educator is teaching. Students at home can watch the videos that the teacher assigns so they don't have to wast time in a classroom. The video that a teacher shows their class, they can crop, shorten, remove, or upload their own videos according to the lesson they are teaching! The teacher can also add their own voice to create a personal touch to the videos. Also, educators can add restrictions on the videos so students cannot skip or fast-forward the videos. The next feature, is that teachers can create quizzes and monitor students' progress. A teacher can also see how long the student takes to complete the lesson. This really benefits the student and the teacher because sometimes, students are scared to ask questions in class because of peers. This way, the teacher knows automatically what the students' weaknesses are and the student can continue to grow.

9

Brainpop

Brainpop

Brainpop is definitely in my top 3! Brainpop has a series of animated videos, engaging learning games, and learning tools that helps students be more engaged and understand. Brainpop is perfect for younger students in elementary school. If a teacher wants to cover a sad topic but doesn't know if it'll upset the students, the teacher can play Brainpop. An example of this, would be a topic on 911. After watching the videos and taking quizzes, the students will be able to understand better. The features this app includes is, the videos can be translated to three different languages, such as: Spanish, French, and Mandarin. This app is very engaging for the students, mobile-ready, and accessible for worldwide reach!

10

Class Dojo

Class Dojo

Class Dojo is a communication platform between students, parents, and the educator. When a person is a teacher, communicating with parents is essential so the parent is up to date on all activities and how well their child is behaving. Think about class Dojo as 'Facebook' in the education world. The educator shares photos, videos, and messages of activities that the students are doing throughout the school day. All of them use ClassDojo to work together as a team and to share class experiences. An interesting feature that Class Dojo has is students have points for good behavior. Students love to compete and to be engaged. Using points for good behavior can give students that extra incentive to do good in the classroom.
