Hike in the Sirinat National Park

The Sirinat National Park is classified as an IUCN Category II (National Park) and is located in Phuket. The Park provides for an interesting visit because it comprises of both land and forest areas as well as sea and beach areas. The National Park which is located in northwest Phuket was established in 1981 and is presently governed by the Department of National Parks Wildlife and Plant Conservation in Thailand. Covering over thirty-five square miles, the Park was originally named the Nai Yang National Park. It received its present name only in 1992. When visiting the Park, plan a visit to see the beautifully preserved beaches as well as nesting areas of sea turtles such as Hat Nai Yang and Hat Mai Khao.

Visit the Mai Khao Turtle Foundation

When visiting the sea turtle nesting areas in the Sirinat National Park, exercise great caution and make sure that you do not disturb these nesting areas. Loss of habit and other environmental issues have caused the sea turtle populations to decline and this has led to the establishment of foundations such as the Mai Khao Turtle Foundation. This foundation was initiated in order to protect the nesting areas of sea turtles. It can be visited between 9am and 5pm and is located on the road that runs in front of Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas.

Aircraft Spotting

Aircraft spotting, also known as plane spotting, is a leisure time activity that is increasingly becoming popular in the world even though it has been around since the Second World War. There are a number of different plane spotting spots in the world including the Maho Beach near the Princess Juliana International Airport, on Airport Road in Mississauga near the Toronto Pearson International Airport and also on Mai Khao Beach near the Phuket International Airport. When residing in Phuket resorts, you will fly into Phuket at the Phuket International Airport. You can also watch planes arriving and departing from the Airport if you go to the southern end of the beach in Mai Khao.
