7 Things to Do in Salalah - A Guide to the must-dos of the City

Salalah is the second biggest city in Oman boasting of great things to explore. Being a coastal city, it is one of the remarkable places in the whole of the Arabian Peninsula. The city also boasts of mountains, springs, waterfalls and all things green in the north. The south, however, is proud of its immaculate white sandy beaches. Here are some of the must-visit places of Salalah.

1

Amazing Waterfalls

Waterfalls are a picturesque beauty and one should not miss out on when in Salalah. Seeing a waterfall in the Arabian Peninsula is a miracle in itself. The place is only known for its deserts and all things dry, right? When in Salalah, pay a visit to either Ayn Hamran (عين حمران), Ayn Athoom (عين اثوب), Wadi Ayn (وادى عين), Wadi Darbat (وادى دربات), Ayn Khor (عين كور) or Ayn Tubrook (عين طبرك) to witness a waterfall.

2

Mirbat Beach

Mirbat is located on the east side of Salalah and is a famous fishing town. In Mirbat, you can explore some of the gorgeous beaches of the country, especially on your drive there. So, don't forget to stop over, and walk in these pristine beaches and enjoy the sea breeze. For accommodation in Salalah, hotel packages are offered in many places, for instance, at the Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara. Check them out for some exclusive offers!

Wadi Darbat

How about paddle boating with your family or partner? It's a light activity full of fun. Especially in Wadi Darbat, you'll have spectacular views to enjoy. Either kayak, paddle boat or go on a boat ride to enjoy this place at its best.

4

Sunsets

Sunsets are most sought after when exploring new places. In Salalah, go to the cliff located in Taqa, for a view you'll remember forever. At the top of this Taqa cliff, you can park your car, take out some chairs or blankets and sit down for a breathtaking view of the sunset over the Indian Ocean. A great view of the Taqa city is promised too!

5

Al Mughsayl Blowholes

Make sure to keep aside a day to explore the Al Mughsayl beach and blowholes, and the Marneef Cave. Also prepared to get wet! This should be experienced, without which your trip to Salalah might not be complete.

6

Ad Dahariz Beach Walkaway

Another pristine beach in Salalah is the Ad Dahariz Beach. This is a stretch of beach that is lined with some iconic tall coconut trees. Development in this area was completed in 2015 and in the same year, it welcomed its very first guests. The beach also boasts of an epic Walkaway!

Scenic Drive

How about a scenic drive when in Salalah? Who wouldn't want that? The two best routes for a scenic drive is Wadi Sahalnoot (Sahalnoot Valley) and the Ayn Sahalnoot (Sahalnoot Spring). The drive here is surrounded by incredible natural beauty. Get your cameras out and capture these beautiful moments!
