List of essentials to pack for a beach vacation - The must-haves in your bag

Travelling to the Maldives on holiday? You've got to pack for the tropics; sunglasses, sunscreen, your best swimsuits and a few more beach items. Here are some essentials items you will need.

1

Most Important – Check the Seaplane Allowance

Your long-haul flight to the Maldives may allow as much as 30kgs or more, but did you know that most transfers to island resorts are via seaplane, and the seaplane baggage allowance is generally around 25kgs. Anything over must be paid for, hence, do check with your resort about seaplane baggage allowances, before packing those bags.

2

Take Along some Conservative Clothes

As odd a title as this may sound to anyone jetting off to the tropics for a holiday of sun, sand and surf; one must keep in mind, the Maldives is a Muslim nation, and apart for your private resort, the local islands and resident Muslims must be shown respect. Ditch the string bikinis for comfy ankle length skirts or cotton pants and shirts or t-shirts with sleeves; there are just too many wonderful attractions, such as ancient mosques built from coral, around the archipelago that you are not going to want to miss.

3

Take Practical Swimwear

Many stylish resorts like Baros Maldives, offer ideal settings for lazing around the pool and looking fabulous. Do remember though, that most of the island-based Maldives resorts are surrounded by the warm Indian Ocean which you simply cannot resist. So, take along that chic bathing suit for looking fab, as well as, a practical swimsuit for enjoying the ocean and all its thrills.

4

Do Pack an Underwater Camera

The Maldives is home to some of the world's top scuba diving destination. You will most likely be taking on a couple of scuba diving tours across the islands, as well as, indulging in snorkelling. Snorkelling can be enjoyed by anyone who knows to swim and with excellent visibility, you can easily view and photograph the gorgeous coral and marine life below the waves. That camera is going to help you make millions of memories of your sojourns around the verdant coral reefs and top dive spots. An underwater camera will also come in handy during those boat excursions to other islands, and for capturing the stunning sunsets just off your Maldives resort beach.

5

Shoes Are Not Important

Most of the luxury Maldives resorts are surrounded by powdery soft white sand beaches. Soothing to the feet, the beaches are lovely to walk on barefoot; besides, walking with shoes will turn out to be a task. Take along a comfortable pair of flat sandals for an excursion, beach shoes for exploring the reefs and a pair of flip-flops.

6

Evening Wear

The luxury resorts of Maldives are relaxed and laidback, although evening dining at most resorts requires men to wear longs. Ladies can take along one or two stylish light kaftans for glamming up the evenings, as well as, a cover-up for when you decide to head out on excursions straight from the beach.
