Aggressive fish to avoid when snorkelling in Maldives- Beautiful but feisty.

Snorkelling is not all fun and games. This aquatic sport bears its share of danger. When you are underwater, look out for these fish. They are not big fans of visitors.

The Lion Fish is a beautiful creature who is rather shy. They have striped pectoral fins and a thin body. They are a very calm species but if you disturb their peace, they lose their cool. If you touch it or bother it, they will attack you.

Spotting this species is a real challenge. They have excellent camouflage skills and you wouldn't see them for the first few minutes. They usually stay near the rocks to capture their prey. The best way to avoid them would be staying away from corals. Don't walk on them or touch them or you will get surprise-attacked by a stone fish.

The stingray has a spine on its tail which is jagged. The tail is used only for its protection. If you don't bother it, it will not harm you. Don't try to pet stingrays. The acids and oils on the hands remove the layer of mucus that protects them from parasites. By keeping your distance, you will be protected by a vicious stingray attack.
