The Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, officially known as Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in Sports and Games,[1] is the highest sporting honour of the Republic of India. Instituted in 1991–1992, the award was given for the performance by a sportsperson in a year.
Shooter Ronjan Sodhi had won the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in the year 2013.
Sania Mirza had won the award in the year 2015 for her exceptional achievement in the field of Tennis.
Badminton star P.V. Sindhu had received the highest sporting honour in 2016 for her achievement in the sport.
Gymnast Dipa Karmakar had produced one of the most remarkable performances by an Indian olympian in the 2014 Olympics. She was also honoured in 2016.
Jitu Rai was also awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award in 2016.
Wrestler Sakshi Malik was also conferred with the highest sporting honour in 2016.
Devendra Jhajharia was the first paralympic athelete to be awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratnain 2017.
Hockey player Sardar Singh was also awarded in 2017.
Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli was awarded the highest sporting award in 2018.
Wrestker Mirabai Chanu was awarded for her achievement in the sport in 2018.
