While most people have heard of Feng Shui, few understand what it actually is. Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese art of placement, which facilitates the flow of energy within your home, helping to enhance your personal energies and create a positive atmosphere in which to live.

Even if you don’t believe in the spiritual aspect of Feng Shui, many of the principles make a lot of sense and may help improve the look, feel and flow of your home.

1. Place a fountain or water feature near your front door

The flowing energy of water symbolises money, which is supposed to help more cash and connections with key people flow into your life. And who doesn’t want a healthier bank balance? If you don’t want to spend a lot of money, Bunnings have some fantastic water features at great prices!

2. Clear the entryway to your home

Let the Chi (energy) flow right into your home by getting rid of any obstacles blocking the entry. Things like overgrown plants or vines, old newspapers, bikes and toys blocking your front path are said to limit the amount of energy entering your home. So clear the way and let the positive vibes flow in!

3. Make your home a hub for learning

Place books where you can easily see them, when you enter your front door. This is supposed to stimulate learning for the whole family. And every little bit helps, right?

4. Hang wind chimes to attract helpful people

The soothing sound of metal wind chimes hung in the right-front area of your home, office or bedroom encourages more people to help you, and also inspires the people already in your life to help you more.

5. Position your bed to feel safe and loved

Place your bed in the ‘Commanding Position’ of your bedroom. This is the spot furthest from the door, but where you can still see the doorway and anyone approaching while you’re lying in bed. Positioning your bed here is said to allow you to be stronger, calmer and in control.
