Earlier this month, Celebrations worked with a corporate incentive group to create a stunning Starry Night inspired event. “The inspiration for this event was to create an enchanting yet casual beach setting for a night under the stars,” said planner Cassie South. “We created a fusion of styled reception seating from lounge pieces, tall cocktails with ghost stools, low cocktails with gold chivari and a mixture of round and square tables all with rotating linens in colours of black, shimmering gold sequin and an opulent navy pintuck.”

When planning a destination wedding, it’s easy to get lost in the details or be blinded by the beauty of a frequently instagrammed locale – but let’s not forget the importance of research and the many factors which will come into play when planning your wedding. While planning the chic details of your destination wedding, there are a few things to consider and we’re here to remind you of what you should be taking care of before diving into the “i-dos”!
The Wedding Planner
Hiring a wedding planner to assist with a destination wedding is an absolute no-brainer. After all, are you really going to be able to pull off the luxury destination wedding of your dreams while on the phone with the caterer, texting the Minister, reviewing the legal marriage laws of your destination, balancing wedding dress choices on your nose and jugging wedding invitation options? Not to mention all the non-wedding related tasks that make your everyday life an already hectic one – such as work, chores, children or classes? Have we sufficiently reminded you of how important it is to hire a wedding planner? Good. Because that is by no means an exaggeration.
The Destination
There are many things to consider when selecting the destination for your Caribbean wedding. Everything from weather to travel documents will need to be considered when narrowing down your islands.
The Extras
Another thing to consider is are the vendors available at your destination. Are they up to your standards? Think not only of the hotel and food but also of the décor and the companies on the Island that are able to produce a luxury wedding.
The Seasons
One thing that could make or break all of your plans is the Island season for the date of your wedding. There are basically two seasons in the Caribbean – summer, and summer with a side of rain.

Fall in love with a venue
Venue selection is critical to ensure that the couple’s every vision can be brought to life. The Cayman Islands features several idyllic properties to host romantic, luxurious destination weddings that are guaranteed to ensure a perfect start of the new journey of matrimony. Imagine a wedding under the stars being set on historical castle courtyard and lawn that is seaside – enough space to design any style you see fitting. Each side of the island has several resorts and venues with different styles of accommodation, exquisite five-star cuisine, friendly authentic service with vast views of the alluring sea.

Our designers were hard at work for this garden themed event which took place on the ocean-front lawn of the Cayman Islands’ newest resort, the Kimpton Seafire Resort & Spa in Grand Cayman. Positioned along the famous Seven Mile Beach, the lawn made for the perfect island-event, infusing the colors of the tropics with the glamour and elegance of gold in the one of the world’s most beautiful islands.
The team at Celebrations were hard at work putting together a design that embodied the luxurious setting of the Cayman Islands, while keeping in tact an elegant garden theme.

When planning events some people think, “Hey, I can do this by myself! It can’t be that hard.” That is, until they start trying to plan the event and realize that it is not as easy as it looks. There are many things that have to be done when organizing an event; these things take a lot of time, and usually multiple people, to get various tasks done. Professional event planners have a long list of tips, tricks, and resources under their sleeves that they have developed through years of experience and practice.
Firstly, having an event coordinator or planner saves time. Planning an event is a full-time job, and most people are already working full-time, and have many other obligations including their families to attend to. It is simply unrealistic to pile the task of planning an entire event on to your already fully loaded day.

Flowers can be found everywhere at a wedding – from bouquets and boutonnieres, to flower petals down the aisle at the ceremony, and even artistic floral creation for table centerpieces. Flowers are a key component of any wedding; they add extra color, texture, and feeling to your special day. Flowers are an important part of creating the feeling or setting the mood for your wedding with their beauty, color, elegance, and style. The use of flowers at a wedding is a form of expression and is also used as an element of design.
Just as the bride’s wedding dress greatly impacts the feeling and style of the wedding, so do the flower arrangements. With flowers in all shapes, sizes and colors, there is no limit to what can be done with these Wedding Floral Creations. A wedding is a very special event for everyone involved – it is a day that every bride and groom will remember for the rest of their lives. In Grand Cayman it is essential to have a professional Cayman Islands wedding planner when planning this special day. Wedding planners will help with every aspect of the wedding, leaving you to enjoy your special day, while they handle the logistics. Instead of worrying about photographers and make-up artists being on time, you get to enjoy time with your family and friends while you get ready for your amazing wedding.
While weddings are special events, wedding tasks aren’t always fun; in fact, planning weddings can actually be quite stressful at times. There are so many things to figure out – what style wedding are you having? Where? When? How many guests? What is your color scheme? What is your budget? Flowers? Centerpieces? Cake? There are so many decisions, and yet never enough time. Make no mistake – planning a wedding is a full time job! It is even more important for people that do not live in the Cayman Islands to hire a Caribbean wedding planner to plan your destination wedding to ensure you are working with top notch and reliable vendors. Let’s be real: Just like your bridesmaids, the chances of you actually ever wearing your wedding dress again are pretty slim. So what do you do with such a pricy piece of clothing that was made for a once in a lifetime occasion? Well, we’ve got a few ideas.
For the Charitable Bride: Pay It Forward
Now that you’re married to the man of your dreams, why not donate your dream dress to a charity? “There are now so many wonderful ones that accept donated wedding gowns (gently worn and in great condition), which they can then resell and use the money to grant wishes to women with cancer,” notes Nicole R. Matthews, CSEP, owner of The Henley Co. in San Diego. “The next bride has the opportunity to choose a wedding dress at a reduced price, while you get to spread the love that your dress brought to you on your big day.”
For the Broke Bride: Sell It
Whether you and your partner paid for the wedding alone or you’re trying to save up for a down payment on your first home, consider selling your wedding dress to earn some extra cash back. That is, if you aren’t the sentimental type. Sites like Once Wed, Preowned Wedding Dresses, Nearly Newlywed and Tradesy (along with many others), make the process so easy it’s like free money in your pocket. While some charge a small listing fee, others simply take a commission of the sale.
