If kids are tagging along with you then you ought to carry a beach ball and a bucket of spades to keep them involved too. The windy beaches of Negombo are also perfect to fly kites and it’ll keep the little and the old entertained.
The freshest catch of fish come on to the shores at 6 every morning. This is a great opportunity to buy gleaming fish and to mingle with the locals. An array of the finest prawns, crabs and seer fish can be bought at a much lower price than usual. Painted pink on the exterior, St. Mary’s church is a Roman Catholic place of worship in Negombo and is famously known for its spectacular artistry inside. It is said to be one of the largest churches in Sri Lanka and is set in a safe and beautiful stretch alongside the beach and adds the perfect setting to an evening walk. It serves the Catholic population alongside several other churches in Negombo. Though not heavily decorated this place of worship is great for reflection.
