Cool Things About Abu Dhabi - All things Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi is a treasure trove of many fascinating things spread out across its land, from large hand-woven carpets and sand dunes to gold-veined marble buildings.

The World's Biggest Hand-Woven Carpet

Sheik Zayed Grand Mosque certainly is a beautiful masterpiece; with the grandeur of its pearly white minarets, marble white domes and its extensive grounds, not to mention its ability to host up to forty thousand worshippers. However, there is something you may not be able to witness from outside, and that would be the grand hand-woven carpet inside, which is probably the largest of its kind in the world. Crafted in nine separate parts by the masters in the trade of Persian carpets; the Iranians for the purpose of being used in the main prayer room of the mosque.

The World's Fastest Rollercoaster

Ferrari World is quite the adventure on its own, but pair it with what is often referred to as the world's fastest rollercoaster and you've got your dose of adrenaline easily packed into one hair-raising outing. The great Formula Rossa is just a little over 2 kilometres long, a distance you would cover in just one and a half minutes if you dare to take a ride. She tops at 150 kilometres an hour and climbs to a staggering height of 171 feet to give you the ultimate speed experience.

The Gold Dispensing ATM

How often do you withdraw some cash from a conveniently placed ATM? Abu Dhabi decided that cash-dispensing ATMs were just too mainstream for them and added their own twist to it. Instead of withdrawing cash, you can insert some money into the ATM and walk away with your money's worth in a bar of gold. Only in Abu Dhabi, folks! The trend seems to be catching as a few other parts of the world have also sanctioned gold-dispensing ATMs since then. These advanced machines are able to dispense embossed gold coins in addition to the typical 24-carat gold bars in various weights.

The Carbon Free City

Move over Mars, Masdar City is here. It is the world's first 100% green city. The city is home to a large number of green energy businesses and can host many workers. The city is located close to the airport and invites people to live, work and play within it. If you're in the mood for some unpolluted air, head on over to Masdar City and breath in the lush air of zero carbon pollution.

The Island of Wildlife

If you're in the mood to experience some fantastic wildlife, but not give up on Abu Dhabi beach resorts, head on over to Sir Bani Yas Island and see over 10,000 animals roam freely across the land. You may even be able to catch glimpses of the tall giraffes on the island, right from your room at Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island Al Yamm Villa Resort. In addition to giraffes, the island homes hyenas, cheetahs and onyx, all living and roaming freely around the island.
