Bali is loved for its gorgeous beaches, and the island certainly has no shortage of sandy oases to chill out on. Choose to explore sandy shores backed by limestone cliffs, or hide away in a quiet cove; the palm fringed beaches are just right to relax on. Read on and choose your favourite.
Offering an 8 kilometre stretch of white and grey sand Kuta is pretty popular amongst visitors as well as, the locals. The place seems to be able to hold on to some of its old-fashioned charms, despite been yanked into the limelight as one of Bali's most popular beaches. There is never a dull moment at Kuta Beach if you love the traffic congested environs and happy crowds vying for a sunny patch on the beach.
These two beaches are located next to each other and are hard to cordon off; where Kuta ends Legian starts. Activities on offer are the same as vibrant Kuta, with plenty of partying, shopping and surfing thrown in for good measure. Head over to the coastal strip called Double Six at Legian and you will be treated to an amazing sunset.
The best beaches of Seminyak are those located to the south, close to Legian. Most tourists enjoying a stay at a Seminyak beach resort are able to enjoy the excellent surfing conditions offered around this beach. The sand there is darker and greyer, and much more exotic than Kuta. If you are a guest at Anantara Seminyak Bali Resort, make sure to head on over to the beach and spend time enjoying the marvellous views of the Indian Ocean; the low flat sand at low tide is an exceedingly beautiful sight.
The Jimbaran Bay is quite popular amongst tourists; and in between is a fine collection seafood restaurants, where one can look forward to the romantic delights of a sunset dinner on the beach. The curving beach along the bay is blessed with soft sands, making the area ideal to enjoy a leisurely stroll barefoot. Relish the tranquillity of the area, and do take along the cameras.
Located across the island from bustling Kuta, this quiet little beach is ideal for some solitude. The sand is a coarse grainy consistency with most of it protected by the Sanur Reef; which in turn offers one a rather safe sea to swim in. On the horizon, Mount Agung and the island of Nusa Penida seems to float, while the sunsets there are to be reckoned with.
Located between Seminyak and iconic Tanah Lot, this beach boasts a great surf and some ruggedly beautiful environs. A surfer's paradise, the black sand beaches are pretty exotic too, while the outback is made up of green rice fields. Once done chilling here, make sure to check out Bali's most popular attraction, the Tanah Lot Temple.
