Located to the north-east of Phuket, Phang Nga Bay is a very unique attraction. The most iconic features of the area include the impressive limestone columns rising out of the emerald green ocean. The islands on the bay are loved by nature lovers for their diverse collection of flora and fauna while some of the most popular are James Bond Island and Koh Panyee.
One of Thailand's most beautiful islands, Phi Phi, will beguile and have you enthralled with its sun-bleached beaches. If you remember the blockbuster movie, 'Beach' starring Leonardo DiCaprio, then this island will look very familiar as the same paradise the movie was cast around. Don't forget the cameras, for the island with its white sand beaches framed by lush jungles, glistening ocean and backdrop of mountains stands high on the 'wow' factor.
Easy to reach from well placed Phuket resorts, Patong's Bangla Road offers quite the nightlife experience. All types of nocturnal fun are on offer along Bangla Road, and one should head over there with an open mind, and a laid-back attitude. The precinct is home to Phuket's largest collection of bars, nightclubs and shows and can be brash at times and downright brazen. However, if you are out to have some fun and observe the activities of night owls, do give the place a scout.
The Big Buddha is the areas iconic attraction. Located at the summit of Nakkerd Hills, the huge white Buddha statue is 45 metres in height; it looks over Kata, Rawai and Chalong. The drive to the summit is one to enjoy as you get to experience local lifestyles and scenery along the way, and once at the summit, don't forget to drink in the marvellous bird's eye view of the area.
The Similan Islands are truly stunning; you will be treated to white sand beaches lapped at by an amazing blue ocean. Consisting of nine islands, located off the coast of Khao Lak the place is a haven for scuba divers and island hoppers out to discover the perfect paradise. The waters are just right for snorkelling as the offer excellent visibility and are crystal clear, while the coral beds are teeming with all manner of marine life.
The night markets of Phuket are quite alluring, and unique depending on the location. They are excellent venues to sample a variety of street food and buy some lovely souvenirs as well. Apart from the shopping allures, the night markets are ideal to relax and enjoy a drink with friends or family as they almost always offer entertainment in the form of song and dance.
