Zheng Mu'en is a co-worker at a Chinese Christian church in the US, has believed in the Lord for many years, and passionately works and expends for the Lord. One day, his aunt testifies to him that the Lord Jesus has returned to express the truth and do the work of judging and purifying man in the last days, news which greatly excites him. After reading Almighty God's word and watching the movies and videos of The Church of Almighty God, Zheng Mu'en's heart verifies that Almighty God's words are the truth, and that Almighty God might very well be the return of the Lord Jesus, so he begins investigating the work of God in the last days with his brothers and sisters. But when Pastor Ma, the leader of his church, discovers this, he tries time and again to intervene and stop Zheng Mu'en. He shows Zheng Mu'en a CCP government propaganda video that slanders and condemns Eastern Lightning in an attempt to make Zheng Mu'en abandon his investigation of the true way, and this video leaves him very confused: He can obviously see that Almighty God's words are the truth and the voice of God, so why do the pastors and elders of the religious world condemn Almighty God? They not only themselves refuse to seek or investigate, they try to stop others from accepting the true way. Why is this? Zheng Mu'en fears being deceived and taking the wrong path, but also fears losing his chance to be raptured. In the midst of his conflict and confusion, Pastor Ma presents even more negative propaganda from the CCP and the religious world, producing many more doubts in Zheng Mu'en's heart. He decides to listen to Pastor Ma and give up his investigation of the true way. Later, after hearing testimony and fellowship from witnesses of The Church of Almighty God, Zheng Mu'en understands that in investigating the true way, the most fundamental principle is determining whether a way has the truth and whether what it expresses is the voice of God. Anyone that can express much of the truth must be the appearance of Christ, because no member of corrupt mankind could ever express the truth. This is an indisputable fact. If one does not focus on hearing the voice of God as they investigate the true way, and instead awaits the descent of the Lord Jesus on white clouds based on their imaginings, they will never be able to welcome the appearance of God. Zheng Mu'en finally understands the mystery of the wise virgins hearing God's voice spoken of by the Lord Jesus, decides to no longer believe the lies and absurd theories of the CCP government and the pastors and elders of the religious world, and escapes the constraints and bondage of his religious pastor. Zheng Mu'en experiences deeply the difficulty of investigating the true way. Without discernment or seeking the truth, there is no way to hear the voice of God or be raptured before God's throne. Instead, one can only be deceived and controlled by Satan and die in Satan's net, which entirely fulfills the words in the Bible, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge" (Hos 4:6). "Fools die for want of wisdom" (Pro 10:21).

What a Beautiful Voice

Dong Jingxin is a preacher in a house church in China. She’s believed in the Lord for thirty years, and loves the truth; she frequently reads the Lord’s words and is driven by them. She expends herself for the Lord with enthusiasm. Because of her preaching work, she was arrested by the police of the Chinese Communist government and sent to prison where she endured cruelty and torture. It was the words of the Lord that guided her through enduring seven years of inhuman prison life. After getting out, her co-worker Chenguang comes to see her and reads to her from the words of Almighty God, bearing witness that God has appeared and is working in the last days. She also gives her a copy of The Word Appears in the Flesh. After reading quite a bit of the words of Almighty God, Dong Jingxin feels that they are authoritative and that they have come from God. She develops a heart of longing to seek. Dong Jingxin and her husband hungrily devour the words of Almighty God and discover that they are all the truth, and that they are the voice of God. They determine that Almighty God really is the return of the Lord Jesus they have been awaiting for years! Just as the two of them are awash in the joy of welcoming the return of the Lord, the chief of police pays them a visit to warn them against attending any gatherings or doing any preaching. He warns them that they particularly must report anyone who preaches Eastern Lightning, giving rise to anxiety in Dong Jingxin. After that, once their pastor finds out that Dong Jingxin is leading brothers and sisters to look into the work of God in the last days, he also interferes with and blocks them. Faced with confusion and disruption from the forces of Satan, Dong Jingxin is able to clearly see the true face of the pastors and elders of the religious world through prayer, seeking, and fellowship. She does not back down, but continues to lead brothers and sisters to investigate the true way, and she invites people from The Church of Almighty God to give fellowship and bear witness to the work of Almighty God in the last days. In the end, everyone acknowledges that the words uttered by Almighty God really are the voice of God, and that He is the appearance of God. Everyone is deeply moved: What a beautiful voice the words of Almighty God are!

Lin Bo’en was an elder of a house church in China. During all his life of believing in the Lord, he was proud to suffer for the Lord and regarded knowing and gaining the Lord Jesus Christ as priceless. Chen Yixin has believed in the Lord for over 20 years and works and preaches enthusiastically for the Lord. She was arrested by the Chinese Communist government and spent four years in prison.

She stood witness for the Lord. However, the sad situation of the church’s growing desolation throws her into pain and confusion. Later on, she is lucky to hear the gospel of Almighty God in the last days and is finally reunited with the Lord. Full of joy, she shares the good news of the Lord’s return with the other brothers and sisters from her church, but she never imagined that what she’d get in return would be slander, insults, being driven out, and even blows…. Chen Yixin sees God’s urgent will to save mankind from Almighty God’s words and she realizes that spreading the gospel of the kingdom is God’s commission, and that it is particularly the mission of every single creature, and a bounden duty…

In recent years she has gone from province to province, city to city to spread the gospel and bear witness to God, during which time she has suffered constant suppression and rejection by religious circles as well as the pursuit and oppression of the satanic Chinese Communist regime. But in the face of the CCP government’s brutal repression and persecution of The Church of Almighty God, as well as the wild defiance and condemnation coming from the pastors and elders of the religious world, some people felt puzzled: The work of Almighty God is the true way, so why does it run up against the wild defiance and condemnation of the political power and the religious world? By reading the words of Almighty God, and by listening to the fellowships of those giving testimony in The Church of Almighty God, brothers and sisters understand the root cause of mankind’s defiance of God, they see clearly why the road to heaven is so perilous, and they come to have discernment about the truth-hating, God-opposing essence of the CCP’s satanic regime and the leaders of the religious world. People such as Zhong Xin have resolutely cast off the restraints and bonds of the influence of Satan, they have accepted Almighty God’s work of the last days, and they have truly returned before the throne of God.

Zhang Hui used to be an elder in a Chinese house church. He was always an enthusiastic seeker, and was waiting for the coming of the Lord. In recent years, he watched the church gradually fall into desolation. His own spirit also withered and he had nothing to preach about. On top of that, his wife passed away suddenly, which was a tremendous blow for him. He met two witnesses from The Church of Almighty God in a chance encounter. Through reading Almighty God’s words, his thirsty spirit received watering and sustenance and he was able to savor the sweetness of the work of the Holy Spirit. He concluded that Almighty God is the return of the Lord Jesus and accepted Almighty God’s work in the last days. But when the pastor and co-workers from his church learn that he believes in Almighty God, they do everything in their power to hinder and disrupt him. When their attempts to use status and money to tempt Zhang Hui are unsuccessful, they resort to exploiting his son’s wedding to force him to give up the true way. A spiritual battle quietly unfolds … Will Zhang Hui be able to rely on God to see through the schemes of the pastor and his co-workers? Will he be able to escape from their traps and strictures and return to stand in front of God’s throne?

Obviously, the movie Waiting is a gospel video about the return of the Lord Jesus because the subheading “The Lord Jesus Has Already Returned on a Cloud” has clearly explained that. The reason why I decided to watch the movie was totally because I had expected the Lord for many years, and meanwhile, because I produced some doubts about the news “The Lord Jesus has returned” directly preached at the beginning of the movie: Doesn’t the Bible say the Lord Jesus will descend with great glory on clouds? If the Lord has returned, why haven’t we been raptured?
At the beginning of this film, the prayer of Yang Hou’en, the main character, keeps straight to the subject: “O Lord! When will You return? We so desperately long for Your return.” These words describe how all Christians longing for the Lord’s arrival are feeling exactly. Afterward, under an old tree, Yang Hou’en sets off a discussion with his father Yang Shoudao and his cousin Li Jiayin regarding the topic “how to watch and wait for the Lord’s arrival?” The ingenious design of the plot gets straight to the subject “The Lord has returned” again, which can be said that the plots are all closely interconnected and absorbing.
However, just when they are discussing the concept that there should also be a method of working in secret about the Lord’s arrival, the plot suddenly reverses. A believer goes to convey a message and says that the CCP policemen closed down their meeting place in the charge of Li Jiayin, that some believers were taken away, and that the police are looking everywhere for Li Jiayin and want to arrest her. In order to escape being arrested by the CCP, Li Jiayin had to leave her hometown and escape to other places. It is during this escape that she gets the chance to converse with Eastern Lightning. Through investigating Eastern Lightning, she is certain that the incarnate Almighty God is just the return of the Lord Jesus and accepts the work of Almighty God in the last days. Three years later, she finally has a chance to return home and preach the gospel to her uncle and Hou’en who have been waiting for the Lord’s arrival!
Though the witnesses from the Church of Almighty God have fellowshiped very clearly about the questions such as “In the last days, how do false Christs and false prophets deceive people?” “how to differentiate between the true Christ and false Christs?” “What it means to watch and wait on earth?” “Why do people who work hard for the Lord not accord with His will or welcome Him, but instead, they will be condemned by Him?” and Yang Shoudao also acknowledges within that Almighty God’s words are all truths, he still rejects, resists and condemns Eastern Lightning blindly. Because he knows that as soon as the believers all believe in Almighty God, they will have discernment of him and will no longer worship him or look up to him. It is absolutely intolerable and unacceptable for Yang Shoudao to lose status, so even if he knows that Eastern Lightning is the true way, he still does his utmost to resist God. He keeps saying that the church was built painstakingly by him and that Eastern Lightning steals his sheep, which shows that in the depths of his heart, he has treated the church and believers as his own so that faced with the important matter of the Lord’s coming, he still doesn’t change his mind in the slightest. It is sufficient to show that Yang Shoudao has already been carried away by his own ambitions and desires and has lost the direction! For the sake of protecting his own fame and status and putting the believers firmly under his control, he not only does not accept Almighty God’s work of the last days himself but he blocks believers from seeking and studying that, and at last, he actually speaks out these words that resist God: Even if it results in death, we will not convert to the Eastern Lightning. At that moment, the lightning flashes and the thunder roars. I think that considering this as God’s wrath is not at all excessive.

The prayer of Yang Shoudao before he dies is completely his inner true expression. He says: “Why is it so dark within my spirit, why do I always feel afraid? Could I really have opposed You?” Only then does he realize that maybe Almighty God he opposes all the time is truly the return of the Lord Jesus, and that he has committed such a great sin, so he has no chance for God is righteous! Most likely, the death of Yang Shoudao also sounds an alarm for all the pastors and elders who are of the same opinion as him. At the same time, it allows me to have some discernment of the wrong viewpoints and pursuits of the pastors like Yang Shoudao.
On the matter of waiting for the Lord’s coming, the viewpoints of Yang Hou’en and his father Yang Shoudao are all much the same. However, after hearing Almighty God’s word, Yang Hou’en understands the path of true watching and waiting, knows what the heavenly father’s will is and accepts Eastern Lightning very quickly, which shows that his attitude is totally different from Yang Shoudao’s. Especially when he has recognized the word of Almighty God comes out of the Holy Spirit, after pondering deeply a whole night, he realizes that if his watching and waiting has no basis in the Lord’s words and if he does nothing but waits like fools, he is unable to wait for the Lord’s return at all; on the contrary, he will hold on to his notions to resist God and end up as one of the hypocritical Pharisees, being condemned and forsaken by the Lord! Hence, he decides to put down his status as a pastor, break through the years of “teachings” of his father, and insist on walking the path of seeking the truth so that brothers and sisters have the fortune to hear God’s voice, meet the Lord’s return and follow the footprints of the Lamb. Seeing this, I feel that on the way of believing in the Lord and welcoming Him, a good pastor’s guidance is really too important!
Li Jiayin’s attitude in waiting for the Lord’s arrival is something every devout Christ should emulate. She can do everything according to the Lord’s word and has a God-fearing heart, so with regard to the Lord’s arrival, she studies the prophecies of the Lord’s return in many aspects and understands that the Lord’s return maybe has two methods, as when the Lord Jesus worked. One is hidden and the other is open. After hearing the news that the Lord has returned and the viewpoints of all kinds of people toward this matter, she can still stick to the Lord’s words and not be misled by their viewpoints, much less makes improper verdicts; instead, she humbly seeks and waits. Frist of all, she is sure that as long as what Eastern Lightning people preach has light and the work of the Holy Spirit and comes from God, then she should seek and study; meanwhile, she can also learn a lesson from the failure of the Pharisees, thinking: If people preach the way that the Lord has returned, and the way has been again condemned and rejected by the religious world, she must give some thought to what they say and cannot blindly refuse them and casually condemn them. These fresh and incisive viewpoints are the precondition for her being the first to meet the Lord’s return. Besides, her own unique insights and retrograde way of thinking are beyond most of us.

At this point, when it comes to the arrival of the Lord, the distinctly different attitudes and results of Yang Shoudao, Yang Hou’en and Li Jiayin form an obvious contrast, and that who is right on earth is obvious at a glance. The Lord Jesus said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me” (John 14:6). I consider this word as the soul that penetrates the whole film and also regard it as a very important word to reflect on my life of belief, because in the movie, regardless of Yang Shoudao or the initial Yang Hou’en, in waiting for the Lord’s arrival, what they hold on to are mostly man’s words and their own notions and imaginations, but rarely the words of the Lord Jesus, and I’m no exception. During the debate, the witnesses from the Church of Almighty God have always used God’s word to remind us that regarding the important matter of waiting for the Lord’s arrival, we must go by the Lord’s word. Only by praying and seeking more and paying attention to listening to the Lord’s voice can we be sure that our practice will not commit any errors. I think this is also the true meaning that the movie Waiting wants to convey.

Has your wait for the Lord Jesus’ return come to an end?
For two thousand years, all the Christians have been waiting for the Lord’s return. Nowadays, the prophecy of the Lord’s return has already been fulfilled, but so far we haven’t welcomed Him yet. Is it because the Lord hasn’t returned, or because we didn’t wait for Him in the right way? This is indeed worthy of our deep reflection! How should we welcome the second coming of the Lord? And in what way and with what attitude do we welcome the Lord when He reveals Himself? These are the most important and pressing problems that we need to think over right now.

Two thousand years ago, the Lord Jesus promised His followers: “I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:2-3). Because of this, generations of believers have continued to obsessively hope and pray for the fulfillment of the Lord’s promise, and hope and pray that they are raptured into the heavens to meet the Lord and enter into the kingdom of heaven when the Lord comes.

This also describes this film’s protagonist, Chen Xiangguang. He is an enthusiastic seeker, spreads the gospel, and bears witness to the Lord in order to welcome the Lord’s coming. In spite of being dismissed from his position in a school and failing to gain understanding from his family members, he never gives up the hope in his heart. One day while in a gathering, Chen Xiangguang is arrested and thrown in jail by the Chinese Communist government. Under God’s wondrous rule and arrangements, he encounters Zhao Zhiming, a Christian from The Church of Almighty God. Zhao Zhiming gives him testimony on God’s appearance and work in the last days, resolving his years of notions and imagination in hoping and praying for the Lord’s return. After getting out of prison, Chen Xiangguang leads his brothers and sisters to look into Almighty God’s work in the last days. Everyone finally comes to understand what it is to be raptured into the kingdom of heaven, whether the kingdom is really on earth or in heaven, and how people should welcome the Lord’s return …
