Relax at Fort Canning Park

This is an oasis, located right smack in the city, very close to Orchard Road. Fort Canning is one of Singapore's most cherished historical landmarks, and well worth checking out. The ideal escape for when the hustle and bustle of the city seem too much, you can relax and enjoy a quiet bond with nature at this park; boasting a range of walking trails and plenty of green spaces to admire. Don't miss a chance to explore 'Battle Box', an intriguing tunnel system which remains from WWII. If you are a guest at Grand Park Orchard, you can easily access the park in about 6 minutes; if not, there are several other entrance ways, such as the National Library underpass, the Parkmall underpass, etc.

Explore the National Museum

Formerly called the Raffles Library and Museum, the National Museum is the oldest in Singapore and a famous national monument. The museum underwent extensive renovations, before re-opening its doors to the public in 2006; boasting a total space of 18,400 sqms, it is the country's largest. Exhibits there well chronicle the history of Singapore, as well as, the surrounding region of Asia. Easy to reach from Orchard Road hotels, this is one attraction, the entire family will find fascinating. Visit Istana the President's Office

Built between 1867 and 1869, Istana, known before as Government House is the official office of the President. Constructed by the country's first Governor General, the building is beautiful incorporating neo-Palladian Anglo Indian architectural styling's. The picturesque surroundings are quite beautiful, and house a 105mm Japanese Cannon, an old well, four ponds, as well as, a 6-foot tall statue of Queen Victoria made from Sicilian Marble. The grounds open annually on the following days, Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Puasa, Deepavali, National Day and Labour Day. Istana is 7 minutes from Orchard Road.

Enjoy the Singapore Art Museum

Located on Queen Street, just 9 minutes from Orchard Road, the Singapore Art Museum stocks a staggering 8,000 pieces of artwork from the country, as well as, South-east Asia. The pieces consist of modern and vintage paintings, which many an art lover enjoys contemplating over. Apart from the paintings on display, there are photography and installation pieces to admire; once done, head over to the gift shop and stop for a snack at the café or restaurant located there.

Located opposite the Art Museum, 2902 Gallery is worth dropping into. The place is a centre for modern photography and video creations. On display is the work of artists from Malaysia, Laos, Thailand and other parts of Southeast Asia. Although the artists are not well-known the gallery displays some of the most fascinating pieces from the region.
